Last night Cheatham County defeated Portland 58-44 to improve to 5-3 on the season. The Cubs were led by sophomore Jacob Saunders who scored 21 points and hit 4 three-pointers on the night. Junior post Billy Thomas added 14 points and shot 7-for-7 from the floor (including a monster dunk in the second quarter).

The Cubs (5-3) host Greenbrier (5-1 on the season) tonight in those teams second matchup of the season. Cheatham County defeated Greenbrier on the Bobcats home floor last Monday by a score of 63-49. It was Greenbrier's lone defeat of the season to this point. Greenbrier has an impressive backcourt that is led by senior guard Connor Peach. Peach scored 30 points last night in the Bobcats overtime win over Jo Byrns (who has 2 victories over 11-AA representative Montgomery Central thus far this season).

I haven't had a lot to say about 11aa in a while, but this year is shaping up to be a good, competitive season. You potentially have 4 teams that have a shot at winning the district title. Harpeth, Camden, Cheatham, and Waverly all have a chance to be tops in the district this year. And with the other district being weaker than they have in a long time, 11aa could very likely have several teams competing for the region title as well. Good luck to all the teams, I'm looking forward to the coming weeks.

Weaker? Are you serious? Giles Co. and Spring Hill are loaded this year! Both teams return a great amount of experience. I believe that 11AA will be ok but 12AA is still heavy on the talent. Marshall Co. is young but has a bunch of athletes- whoever is the # 4 still will be a mystery. But they are still very, very good.
