I thought the referees struggled too. Lots of loose balls and crashing the boards though which makes for a tough game to call. They let some physical play go and then got a little ticky tack in the second half. The one excruciatingly long official time out confused the heck out of me.

Good luck to all the 11AA teams in regions.

I think Cheatham's coach called a timeout, then asked about the call right before that. It took the officials forever to explain it though. It was definitely a physical game. I really enjoyed it though, both schools represented themselves well.

I feel that District 11-AA is good enough to earn a "split" in the 1st Round of next Saturday's Region 6-AA Tournament. I believe that Harpeth (Fairview) and Cheatham County (Marshall County) will be tough to beat on their home floors. I really wouldn't put it past Camden to go to Pulaski and give Giles County all they want. Waverly got the "hardest" draw with Spring Hill but outside of that game I think District 11-AA teams have to feel very confident going into next weekend.

Spring Hill seems to be stacked needless to say. Giles when I watched them had one guy who could score pretty well and the rest were athletic but not great by any means. If you don't hit the boards hard against them then you are in for a LONG night.

Harpeth wins the District 11AA tournament in a great game.

As a neutral fan in this game, this is what I saw. Harpeth really seemed to take it to the Cubs in the 1st half, the Cubs almost seemed timid... BUT, they are young so that is not unexpected. The 2nd half was great in my opinion, a good back and forth pace. Harpeth had it going tonight, and Saunders seemed to struggle some for Cheatham (that was my first time seeing him play, he looks very young). Overall I thought both teams played very hard and didnt let their emotions get carried away. There was one little mix up but thats understandable. Having seen Giles County play, both of these teams can play with them. Good luck to all the teams in the Regions!!

*side note- the officials in all games seemed to struggle to me.

Yes it was a good game and I hope 11aa shows out. And yes Saunders is young, just a Sophmore.

I feel like Cheatham came in a little over confident and Harpeth came in with a score to settle. They wanted to win more than Cheatham and it showed. You hit the nail on the head, Cheatham came out in the first half flat but stepped it up in the second half, just not enough to defeat a determined Harpeth team. Congrats to the players and Coach Wilson.

It's tough to beat a good team 3 times in a row. Cheatham is very young and talented. They'll be in these sort of games plenty of times in the next 2 or 3 years. Lot of experience on the floor for Harpeth. Proud of the seniors. They played through some rough patches to earn their 1 seed going into regions. Gotta do something with it though. Don't rest on your laurels. 12 is a gamer. I love to watch him compete in big games.

12 AA is for real in the top half of their district. They are top heavy though and 11AA has a tougher district top to bottom. Hopefully that will pay dividends this post season. I wouldn't look past any of them though.

I think your confused. Beating the "MIGHTY CUBS" in the distric tournament means your the tourney champs, The "MIGHTY CUBS" beating your A_S twice, alond with everyone else in the distric means they are THE DISTRIC CHAMPS. You idiot.

sorry, it does not work that way. Harpeth is the Boys District Champs, and Waverly is the Girls District Champs. They are the only ones who gets Championship plaques. Regular season is for seeding only!

That is incorrect! The "regular season champion" is the recognized district champion. The tournament champion is just for the tournament bragging rights/Region Tournament seeding.

It's the same thing in college basketball as well. The regular season champion is the recognized champion of each conference and the tournament championships are simply for bragging rights/NCAA Tournament seeding.

Cheatham County is the recognized District 11-AA Champion for 2011-2012. Harpeth won the 2012 District 11-AA Tournament Championship and as a result enters the Region 6-AA Tournament as a #1 seed.

As I stated last night CONGRATS TO HARPETH on winning the 11-AA Tournament. The Indians were the hungrier basketball team and controlled the game from the outset. Wilson had his team very prepared and his kids played with a "chip on their shoulder" after having lost 2 to the Cubs in the regular season. On Saturday February 18th the Harpeth Indians were a BETTER BASKETBALL TEAM than the Cheatham County Cubs.

I hope that those Harpeth fans who have been hating on Cheatham County Basketball (and Jake Saunders in particular) show up tomorrow night.

It's time (ONCE AND FOR ALL....) for Harpeth to "put up or shut up" in what promises to be a heated basketball contest tomorrow night.

Harpeth has been OWNED this 2011-2012 school year by the Cheatham County Cubs. The football game was a total mismatch. The basketball games have been contested but won by Cheatham County late. The last win saw the Cubs pull away for a convincing 15 point win on Homecoming at Harpeth High School.

It's like T.O. said "you'd better get your popcorn ready" :popcorneater:

Bet you feel stupid

Congrats to Harpeth on winning the district championship and to Cheatham for winning the regular season. Also like to give a shut out to my Camden team who I am very hard on who put together a very nice district tournament. You have finally made it to the next step in states and put together a 20 win season. So congrats and hopefully we can continue it at Giles next week.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
