Cant remember a season where the district has been as completely wide open as it will be this year. Who will capture the district? Discuss..........

Haven't seen anyone other than Blackman last night so I don't know how they measure up. However Blackman is very athletic and several kids that appear to be in the 6'2" to 6'4" range. They beat Lawrence County last night but was not real impressive in doing so. But I think maybe 1st game jitters had something to do with it. Darius Thompson is the leader of the team. He is a tall, long point guard who is a good shooter and good defensive player. He is not real quick but makes up for it with his length. Quindell Cousin will be good down low but he looked like he is not in great condition as he is still recovering from a football injury. I was impressed with Terrance Smotherman. About a 6'4" post who is athletic and looks like he can score. Several other players who can score. Blackman will be good. Not sure how good yet.

Tonight:

Blackman over Lavergne - big important home win for the Blaze over a very good Lavergne team.

Oakland over Riverdale - I would call this an upset. Oakland, I believe is young but evidently very talented.

Siegel over Smyrna - Siegel is looking good.

Oakland played very well during the first half and had the game well in hand with a 20 point lead, then their youth reared its ugly head in the fourth qtr. Credit to riverdale, their defense went to another level and created lots of turnovers. Man Smith and the Oliver guy are very exciting to watch.

Very tough game for Blackman tonight. Oakland is good and young just as I had heard. Oakland is set for the next 2-3 years with Emanuell Smith and Kyle Oliver. Smith is a great 1 on 1 player. Very quick and hard to guard. Oliver is very impressive for a freshman. They will both be scary good as seniors. For Blackman, Cousins is a stud and can jump out of the gym. McMiller played a great game. Thompson had a slow start but did his thing in the 2nd half. One complaint about coaching. What is Wortman trying to do with Thompson offensively? Thompson is running back and forth across the baseline. Its almost like Wortman is trying to tire his on player out. This offense never works. Thompson has had the ball in his hands as long as I can remember. Why they are trying to take the ball out of his hands, I don't know? Thompson is one of if not the best passer that has come thru Rutherford County in a while. He needs to have the ball quite a bit and use his great vision. They did this more in the 2nd half and they played much better.

    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
