New Marion County Head Football Coach

Well, with all this said, in High School sports, if a coach fails to keep the parents happy, they're probably not long term coaches. A few well established coaches with mostly winning programs can buck that fact......most can't. That's no knock on Coach Boeck; he gotta raw deal as far as I'm concerned. Right now Marion has a new Head Coach on board; if all MCHS administration, asst. coaches, football players, fans, students and PARENTS can all pull together, sounds like the program may see some quick improvement. I hope so, and good luck to all involved.

Will you Marion people make sure and tell this McCurry man to fill out his survey for my Murphy Fair book? That Beck man did not do it a few years and I garuntee you that is one reason why that Zieglar man let him go. Murphy's survey will be coming out in a few months and this McCurry man needs to fill it out.

Well Roy I hate to give you some more bad news after getting whooped at that state championship game by that Rice man but him and that McCurry feller are best friends. Matter of fact I think he was the one that scouted South Pittsburg for that Rice feller leading up to that game. I think he was in the coaches box against the Pirates helping him call the plays. About that Murphy Fair survey....McCurry and that Fair feller are first cousins so dont be worried about that. Just the facts Roy.

PS....I dont think that McCurry feller cares too much for that Grider man anyways.

I have to say I am somewhat shocked that MC made a good hire. I know that Zig is a good guy but I was worried that others(there is really only one other involved) may mess this up. Good Job Zig. Love the Wing-T, like the Enfield 303, it was always my weapon of choice.

Enfield 303? Are you a WWI vet? You must be older than dough. I wonder how long Mac has before he retires?

Goodluck in every game but week 4 next year. Hey Al Capone do you remember me? Its your old friend from Atlantic City, James Darmody. Tell Rothstein that Nucky is still wanting his cases of whiskey.

Still shell shocked Jimmy. Me too. Those cases were drank up earlier this Fall, just after that last Pirate beat down. Now I'm already starting to like these new phrases.......Fear the Mac........Big Mac Attack...........and if BillyGoatMtn Man knows what he's talking about, that Mac don't like that Grider man already, the annual post game entertainment should continue. Here's a mug full lifted to ye, hoping this rivalry can get back soon to something respectable. Gool luck to both teams in the coming year(s).........I no longer have a dog in the hunt........yet.

No they were used up until Vietnam. Never goes out of style, like good ball. What is hit stays hit.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
