Now now, that is kind of a low blow. I am aware of some of his dad's "behavior" but I guarantee it was straight from his heart and love for his kid. I was a teammate of his dad most of my life and he was probably the most intense and competitive guy I've ever met(arguably the best point guard the school has had in decades). Those of us who played understand how hard it is to "turn that off" especially when our child is on the field or court. I am not condoning his decisions to be inappropriate, but I'm sure Evian would find your comment offensive and he don't deserve that during his time to celebrate.

Evian is a fine young man, but I saw his dad yelling at a young man from Clarksville that is going to Kentucky (Poythress) who appears to be extremely mild mannered. Poythress never showed any emotion despite having several calls go against him. Poythress questioned 1 call late in the 3rd quarter and Cook's dad yelled "take his scholarship away" at least 25 times, to the point of the opposing crowd getting involved and Poythress looking at him like he was crazy. I apologized afterward to this young man with a bright future about the ignorance of this man. I personally think he should not be allowed to any sporting event.

And yes, despite his fathers actions, Evian IS a fine young man. I am NOT in any way going to sugar coat something that every HC fan that attends games understands. HE IS NUTS AND SHOULD BE BANNED FROM THE GYM!

Do you have any idea how many nutcase fans/parents have come through HC over the years? I agree with you that this man's actions were in no way acceptable by any means, but calling out one particular player's parents on a public message board that thousands of people from across the state read every day is in poor taste.

Going to the AD or whomever would serve the best purpose. But for the sake of the young man (Cook), that's something I'd leave off the message boards. Just my two cents.

    • Congratulations to Huntingdon and Station Camp. Lots of good softball in Tennessee. Alcoa been media favorite last two seasons.
    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
