IS THIS A JOKE?

You my friend, need to take a chill pill. I dare say the teens from the opposing team weren't near as upset as you've been the past several days. And on record, I played sports for a small, undersized, undermanned school for 12 years, and in that time I took a lot of beatings very similar to this one, but when that changed, and the athletic program was successful, it was because of those losses and it made it that much sweeter to finally win. Look at carrol academy's records they take beatings year in year out in every single sport and I have not once seen you on here launching scathing diatribes against their opponents, with that, seriously, everyone should move on.

I would bet they were upset, and so was their moms and dads and Mamaws amd papaws that came to watch their kids play. I cant help that u took a lot of beatings when u were in school, but i noticed you never mentioned getting beat by 126 points for the third time u played a team. Im not going to take a chill pill on an issue that was brought up by a guy who was basically bragging about beating this poor little team. He asked and we told him.

You need to read vandychris, truhoopsfan and liveandplay4HIM's, most recent posts. They are simply the best post of this discussion. If you cant understand, u cant understand.

Also, this same guy injected race into the issue later with his scotts hill comment, and I wouldnt care to bet u that team they beat 149-23 was prodominantly, if not all white kids. I can tell this from they way he boast about killing them, and SUPERIOR talent and Memphis this and Memphis that! I may be wrong but i bet im pretty close to spot on.

We are simply saying the coach needs to be held accountable just as the girls coach was awhile back...what he did was not sportsmanlike and there is no place in high school ball for it, and this coming from a guy that was in a game that we won 110-60...we used it as a learning situation, they could have done the same...have you ever played in a game in which the coach sits you down if you dont obey a 4 pass minimum and a no 3 pt shot rule? I have and it was as if we were asked to quit, it was we respected the other team and players.....

Interested in the fact that you played school sports for 12 years? You bound to have some state records.

On the score issue. There is never, never, never, a reason to beat a team by 100pts. Absolutely outrageous. My Jr and Senior year of baseball we anted to beat two schools by 20 runs when we played them because they did it to us as freshman. However, the thing that our coach made us understand was that we wouldnt be beating the same kids that beat us by 20. So as for the what goes around comes around, that is not relevant. because if you try to beat a team later on like they done you in the past chances are you are doing it to different kids. If a high school team scores 100 they have to really be trying to do so, slowing down at no point in the game. If a team beats you by 100 they have no decency.

But here is the thing.. The kids do not know.. any kid in that situation would try to win by 100 if the possibility was there. the issue is that the coach tried to do so, and that the principle or someone didnt slide over to the coach and put a stop to it about the end of the 3rd quarter.\

Dont bash the kids about it, but the coach should face some consequences. I would like to see TSSAA step in on an extreme case such as this one

Best post of the entire thread. Thanks for articulating what I couldnt say. I read it and said EXACTLEY!

True story....

I once saw a coach make a brilliant move when his team was getting blown out. It was an obvious mismatch and everyone in the gym knew it. The better team started out pressing and the weaker team literally could not get the ball past half court. It was about a 30 point lead at the end of the first quarter. Well, the better team started the 2nd quarter pressing and the other coach told his team to GIVE THEM THE BALL. That went on for about 4 possessions. The weaker team would inbound the ball and just hand it to the better team and let them make layups. The kids were like "What?" I thought it was brilliant and the other coach called off his press. There was absolutely no need to press this team and even in a loss, everyone in the gym knew who had gotten outcoached..

WOW! What a great Idea. I wouldve been so upset I could think straight enough to come up with that. Great coach!

Sir you seem very confrontational. calm down. I take it that you were talking about me when u said "a guy that was bragging" I was never bragging about that win. I asked what you all thought about BTW's dominance this year, since no one had beaten them at the time. You are making a big situation of this sir. I told you how I felt about that specific game. And it wasnt bragging. And for the record, the team was in fact 100% african american. Its really hard to find an all white team or school in memphis. Care to comment on any other BTW wins? seems like thats the only blowout you saw....

WOw 100%. Thats surprising. I mean with all that Memphis talent and the way they hop from one school to another and all they could get was a bunch of Steve Erckles? U were bragging and even condoning it early on. And as far as the schedule they played? 105 out of 110. Nuff Said.

I will say something about them...just glancing, it appears that you played one team in the state with a winning record (westwood) that I recall seeing-I could be mistaken and if so I stand corrected (and not counting out of state teams)...most of your wins were by 30+...not hard to do that when they all have losing records and it will come back to bite them in tight game situations....again, after beating a team once by 100, it is uncalled for to do it again, much less twice more...what I take pride in is they highest scoring team in Iowa history never beat a team like that-its uncalled for

I dont care :thumb:

That is a very impressive list. BTW has helped my Memphis Tigers out for awhile. The Memphis history associated with BTW is fascinating. My family founded STAX records and I had the great honor to meet and know Mr. Rufus Thomas. He was a great man and ambassador for the city of Memphis. Sheriff don't worry about the haters, those of us who know basketball know how good they are. I look forward to our Lake County Falcons playing them at some point as I believe it would be a good game. Good luck to both teams.

High school sports is about teaching kids sportsmanship, teamwork, comraderie...in situation like this, knowing going in you have beaten a team twice by an average of 110 pts, you go in and use it as a teaching moment... go into the game with a 4 pass limit, teach guys how to run a slow down half court offense, no 3's throughout the game, proper technique on a box out, things of that nature, teach them a zone defense (as i am certain this team most likely runs straight up man)...I was part of a game we led 65-15 at half-2nd half we ran zone defense in half court sets, we had a pass minimum and no 3's for the entire 2nc half and the coach was using every second to teach us better use of fundamentals-at one point he called a timeout and took the team to the opponents bench and the rest of the game was like a scrimmage, we as players were even helping to teach some things to the other team, yes we beat them110-65 but we got more instruction from that setting than we would have in practice...next time we played them we played our starters for 4 mins (we knew ahead of time this would happen) and the game was much closer 85-60 and we were awarded the sportsmanship trophy for tbe way we conducted ourselves as players

:roflolk: Nice Post. Good example of great coaching and discipline.

I played sports k-12, at a small private school, TCA, smart aleck. Find something better to do with your time than pick through someone's post and make up some pathetic insult in return without putting any real thought into what you are actually typing, move on, I'm hopeful that you have more important things to invest your time in than kicking this dead horse.
