Was he unhappy at T-town? FC seems like a coaching graveyard. Very little stability for that program. Good luck Coach Taylor.

Coach Taylor is a FC Alum...if I'm correct...and he has wanted to return to FC for quite awhile (form what I was told). I haven't heard anything negative about him at Tullahoma or any issues there.

I would tend to disagree with FC being a graveyard. I just think we have a hard time retaining good coaches. Seems like when we do get good coaching we either run them off or they move to greener pasture, (reference Coach Wild). As for the Athletic programs at FC...we have great facilities, but definately need work with our programs as a whole...from Middle school up to the High School level. When your biggest games are the North vs South Middle School, then you've got problems. I would like to see us combine all sports at the middle school level like Tullahoma does for football and baseball. I think that goes along ways to stablizing and developing your programs...and I don't think anyone can argue with Tullahoma's Football and Baseball success. I sure there are other areas that make their programs successful, and I think combining our middle school programs would go a long ways to doing just that.

Coach Carlos almost took the Motlow job last yr? Where is he going?

FC almost hired Coach Taylor a few yrs ago. Instead, they hired Coach Turnham.

I think he (Coach Smith) applied for the softball job (assistant coach) at Motlow, at least that's what I had heard. Also, He's staying at FC...he resigned to take care of some family medical issues.

I had heard that Coach Taylor has wanted the position for quite a while, but didn't know that he had ever applied. I know his teams at Tullahoma always seemed to be scrappy and get after it. He'll have quite a few challenges at FC for the next few years.

FC is working on the graveyard as you can see. Boys and girls basketball is set with two great coaches in place. When great coaches are hired, other great coaches notice. The stability in the programs will only get better. AAU programs and camps for the younger children develop your program at the next level. We are so fortunate to have Coach Insell and Coach Taylor. Welcome home Jeff!!!

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
