Powell at Oak Ridge

It should be a great game. Both teams have a lot of explosive weapons. Against halls Ty'shawn Gardin had 5 carries for 173 yds and 3 tds. Washington had 12 carries for 150 yds and 3 tds. Powell's young 6'5" freshman rec. should be interesting to watch. I know Oak Ridge has Hall, Moore, Norman (not sure if I spelled that right), and several other excellent players. I think both defenses will have to lock it down and stick to their assignments or there may be some big plays. It's going to be a great atmosphere at Blankenship...Can't wait for Friday night!

The better coached team usually wins a game like this..Who will be the better coached team? Remains to be seen.

Looks like the winner of this contet is likely to host a playoff game. Lets get it started.

The Wildcats will need to improve the run game if they want to win this one, Powell looks like they haven't lost as much as everyone thought without Mobley.

The Wilcats have played better on the road the last 2 years, but something tells me Elliot won't like " another mule kicking in his stall". That's right Andy......I said THE MULE!!!!!

We shall see, PowellPhoto...Who will make the right adjustments during the course of the game? We shall see, should be exciting like you say. Watch it be some low scoring slugout affair lol

That would really be a surprise there SS. I'm looking to watch a shoot-out with both teams fired up and ready. I think this is going to be a lot of fun to watch!!

Actually, they've played three times..09', 10', 11'. Oak Ridge won in 2009 at Powell 28-7. I really don't know what to expect for this game. That said, I know OR is a solid football team, but Powell is a lot better than anyone expected them to be. They remind me of the 2010 team with more weapons, but less experience. I'm sure the wildcats will give them all they want and more. Honestly, I feel OR should have the edge. More experienced coaches, more experienced players, and home field advantage. BUT, I think Powell def has the potential....GO PANTHERS!

Our rich tradition don't win ballgames, cotton. Us OR fans, even though we do have one of the most storied programs in Tennessee need to stop living in the past. With that being said, powellphoto corrected your snafu before i could with the overall series haha icon_e_smile.gif

I am so up in arms about this game. I really can't tell. Yall struggled with a Rhea Co team that just got hammered by Mcminn County. We spring out to a what looked to be like a blowout game vs Farragut, only to fall apart. We were kinda just ho hum vs Central it seemed and never really got into that game it seems. Yall just kill Halls, but it is Halls...Geez, who knows?

Well, this will be a great test for both teams. Regardless of how either team has played thus far, I'm sure both will be fired up and ready to play. As far as the Rhea County and Farragut games go, I'd tally those up to first game issues. Both teams have had time to build on mistakes since then and it shows. I just don't think I can handle another tight one like last year. :-/ lol

I know, right? That game about killed any nerves i had left that day lol...We stopped Mobley great there for the first half..His size and strength took over in the 2nd half. BUT, except for those few real long runs, we held him in check for the most part. Unfortunately those long runs were td's lol

Lol. He saved us for sure. You guys played him tougher than Henry County did in the championship, I think. This year we use 2 backs. One is a little bigger with decent speed and decent vision...the other is a lot smaller with more speed and great vision. What I am gettin at is it takes the two of them to make up for Mobley, but so far they're doing a good job. Mobley will get playing time in the Kentucky - Louisville game tomorrow. Hope he makes all of us in the area proud!

Oak Ridge, with all it's rich tradition over the years, has never beaten Powell. Granted, they've only met twice. rolleyes.gif

However, until they put it together I have to go with Powell in a close one. Powell seems to be improving week to week. Really good football teams have a tendency to do that. Oak Ridge is getting closer to the power I was used to growing up in Powell.
