My map still shows Alcoa is East of CAK...fwiw.

School location to interstate will play a role in placing teams in quads, it is not a straight line drawn down the line. Also this 4a bracket is jumbled there are 20 teams at 3-3 or better and 14 teams currently vying for the last spots. But I am working through them as I have time.

For years I have been screaming that district teams should not have to face each other until the finals. It punishes a very strong district. For example CAK, Alcoa, Loudon, and Kingston held 4 very strong teams that eliminate each other. I have heard the arguement that you have to beat the best to win it, but my problem with that is CAK should have at least 3 state runner up trophies and Alcoa was easily the 2nd best in the state behind CAK last year. My team is not in this district so I am not bias. I am not picking on Bledsoe, because I know they had a good run last year, but this is my arguement. We did not make the playoffs last year and our first place team from our district was the only team with a 1st round win game, ie. we had a weak district. I mention Bledsoe because they beat us by 1pt. on a contriversial ending, we were a 1 win team- they won their district. The other districts in that area were weaker than Bledsoes district. My point is Polk the #1 team from our district would have destroyed the teams from Bledsoes district and those others Bledsoe had to play until they met Alcoa, which ended up a laugher. The 4 teams from CAK and Alcoas district end up eliminated each other. I just hate that these teams are leaps and bounds better and their seasons end ealier. There is a way that the state can eliminate this by shuffeling the pods each week. Just a thought.

Ahem...From TSSAA, today.

Class 3A (Week 5)

Quad 1: Johnson County, Cumberland Gap, Unicoi County, Elizabethton, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Alcoa, Chuckey-Doak, Sullivan North

Quad 2: Tyner, McMinn Central, York Institute, Sweetwater, Loudon, Polk County, Kingston, CAK

Quad 3: Hickman County, East Hickman, Westmoreland, Upperman, Cheatham County, CPA, Fairview, Smith County

Quad 4: Jackson Central-Merry, Waverly, Lewis County, Westview, Camden, Manassas, South Gibson, Milan

Now...For arguments sake, if when Alcoa beats CAKe, if both teams are a 1 seed, Alcoa (quad 1) will have to travel to CAKe (quad 2) for the Semis if both are fortunate enough to make it that far.

Who would have thought that AE having such a crappy year would have playoff implications.

If AE were playoff material, Alcoa and CAKe would be in the same quad.

Get you some of that one.

The TSSAA is not consistent in there grouping. The last couple of years the Murfresboro schools have been sent East based on their proximity to I-40. New year and TSSAA changes it again. What a surprise.

C'mon genius shouldn't you know both teams can't be a one seed unless Quad 1 has no district winners of quad 2 has no district winners besides CAK or Alcoa which the chance of that happening is smaller than Kate Hudson's upper torso. Both cant be number 1 seeds. So if they do meet in the semis it will be at the district winners site.

Get you some of that.

Seedings are determined by number of wins, then games against teams with winning records, then wins against teams with winning records.

There is no "Guaranteed #1 seed for winning a district"

Proof? ~~> .http://www.tssaa.org...l2012/index.cfm

Scroll down to video #4

Get you some of dat there.

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
