Red Rebel----looks like from your figures on attendance that the tssaa should go back to games on home fields. Your figures -at least in the 70's-show that Alcoa and Maryville both outdrew Murfreesboro and Nashville playoff games. Maryville should easily draw

7 to 10 thousand. Won't happen , of course.

RebelRon-- I don't think it was Buster Smith . He was black. Whoever was carrying the ball seemed to stumble and hurled the ball to the ground . It bounced straight up and it was easy for the defender to walk into the end-zone. A couple of miscues like that and Rebels inability to run well without their star runner.,IMO lost the game. By the way, that state final was played in Maryville.. Do you remember when Maryville and Alcoa both played in the finals --a double header on Alcoa's field? Oh, Buster Smith wasn't black--it was the player who got hurt.
