Residents in Lawrence County are mourning the deaths of two teenage girls.

Loretto teens Tanna Pesnell and Rianna Watson, both 17, as well as 28-year-old Lloyd Bentley and 32-year-old James Race of Lawrenceburg died in the accidents.

The first crash occurred about 6 p.m. Wednesday as Watson was driving a GMC Envoy west on Old Florence Pulaski Highway in Leoma with Pesnell, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol report.

The report said the Envoy crossed the center line and collided head-on with a box truck hauling dog food driven by Brentley Cheek, 41, Leoma. Cheek was not injured.

Watson died at the scene, the report said. Pesnell was transported by Lifeflight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she remained in critical condition and ultimately died from her injuries Thursday afternoon, according to THP spokeswoman Dalya Qualls.

WLX-FM radio posted on its Facebook page Thursday that Loretto High School would open at 10 a.m. for students to gather in light of the accidents. A request for comment from the school was not immediately answered

Or suffered a catastrophic medical condition & lost consciousness for all we know. Slim I know being an jerk is your "thing" but this is low even for you. Try leaving the "cuteness" to other topics please.

Prayers for all the involved families & friends.

My feelings exactly, prayers from Roan Mt.

    • Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!
    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
