They should, but their football team has been down the last 2 years

Which explains why they moved into 2A. When you have the money you can bend the rules to help you win. I'm sure its what jesus would have done since goodpasture is a private christian school. I do think however Goodpasture is expecting a tough couple more years. However, dropping down into 2A could generate some new recruiting possibilities so next year could be a whole new team from what we've seen out of their starters this year and their JV. I have seen both and neither are impressive.

I think we are having a vote on Monday for a complete split. I can't imagine too many public schools voting to keep um.

oh hale pujo...they done went and snuck this new rule through without telling anyone...the privates have managed to "buy" the board...i bet the split gets voted down by 1. Mark it.

My scenario would be for the board members in each district to male out voting slips to each coach in their district...then have them mail them straight to the director. Count the votes...If done in this fashion, I have no doubt it would be a unanimous split, probably 200-100...but when you shrink 300 votes into 9... it turns brown and floats in a commode.

The main thing is for ALL the schools to show up and vote. It would be a landslide.

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
