We (or I should say I) are not saying Covington cant be beaten. Giles it looks like is the team to beat no offense to Fulton. Covington has had weaknesses exposed during the last 2 weeks. Kickoff/Punt return has looked sluggish especially against Trezevant and a strong running attack with big oline will wear Covington down. And the Covington running game was pretty successfully shut down a couple of times....but here is where this Covington team is different from teams from Covingtons past...these guys find a way to win...They do not give up they are 100% every play as I'm sure all teams left in the playoffs are. No team has been able to shut down all facets of our team and that makes them a threat every play. Opportunistic is a very good description of this team. Do not count them out or the one play the other team slacks on is when Covington will burn them. That being said there is some very good football to be played and watched the next couple of weeks. I'll be in Cookeville whether Covington is there or not pulling for any west tn teams still playing.

I'll take your football knowledge as a given. But, have you seen Covington play this year, either live or on video? I sort of doubt it. Your last sentence sounds more to me like a prejudice against West Tennessee than a factual analysis of Covington's strengths and weaknesses. If you look at schedule strength on Coach T, for instance, you will see that Covington's schedule strength is one notch ahead of Giles. Covington at 53, Giles at 54.

I'll tell you right off that I have not seen one play of any game by Giles County. Neither am I making any statements about whether they will win or lose. Just hate to see somebody making broad statements about my team with no info to back them up.

once again read my earlier post. until the.west can prove that football out there in 4A is up par with middle and east teams then this how everyone will see yall. Youve had one west state champion in 4A in 21 years and that was 12 years ago. film on covington does not prove anything as to the competition in 4A is not like middle and.east.competition. and.you cannot argue that as the.past 21 years shows the facts.

also schedule strength is botched. ive seen teams in the same district facing.same opponents with easier opponents in non district games have a harder strength of.schedule rating? How.is this when they have the same schedule. they usually seem to vote teams that are not as good higher due to the schedule strength is harder because they are not as good ;).

Purple the further yall advance the harder the task..sure your excited as well you should be ..so am I ..represent 13AA well win or lose ...Im not so sure Trezevant didnt take yall lightly having to come from behind in the 2nd half ,not sure why..Imo Fulton is as big ,fast and probably better than the Bears and will beat Giles ...TCOB with Liberty 1st then celebrate in Cookeville playing for the Gold

Well, I still think that this is Covington's year.

I am looking forward to being on the Tech campus Saturday to watch my Chargers line up against Fulton. The way our team has been playing a victory is sure possible.

One thing I can say for sure is that this is not Greeneville's or Giles Co.'s or Lexington's year in 4A. All others have been shown to be pretenders and there are only two contenders left.

    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
