That's a laughable statement when you consider you only had 3 teams on your schedule this year that won over 3 games the entire season. So while your team may very well be formidable… I for one have to say I'm not impressed with your record.

It was weak, but it was actually 4 during the reg season, and 1 other in the playoffs

Who's the best althlete for Powell and how did they do on special teams this season?

Tough question to answer, regarding the best athlete. Last year, it was Dy'shawn Mobley, hands down. This year, it's not as clear cut. If I had to narrow it down, offensively, QB Hagen Owenby, RB Montario Washington, and RB/WR Marcus Weaver all stand out. Defensively, DE Shar'ron Moore, LB Devin Scott, and DB Jon Strozyk are standouts as well. RB Tyshawn Gardin and WR Durel Middleton are also worth mentioning.

On special teams, Hagen Owenby is an excellent directional punter and Austin Rogers is probably the best placekicker Powell has had in some time, although he hasn't had to kick many field goals (just 3-3 this season). Look for Jon Strozyk and Marcus Weaver to return most of the punts/kicks.

Tennessee got monkey hammered by DB, Science Hill and Daniel Boone, which loss you admittedly avenged in the playoffs. The Jeff County loss wasn't a true monkey hammering but still a good sized spread. Powell's 11-1 record speaks for itself, which was what I was really pointing out to the Viking Father when he was comparing records. And District 3AAA wasn't nearly as weak as some think. It wasn't brutal, but not weak. Anyhow, Powell I believe will win this one by two touchdowns.

Powell's 11-1 record speaks for itself alright. :roflol: The problem is that nobody can hear it yet because you’ve played a bunch of losers with the exception of Oak Ridge, Knox Central, and of course West. You only had 4 out of the 12 teams you played go on to the post season... and one of them was a mere (as you put it) "monkey hammer" waiting to happen. The Vikings only had 3 teams out of the 12 they played not go to the post season. How are you going to beat your chest on a schedule full of teams in which all but 3 failed to win more games than they loss? I’d stick with the “best DB in the State†thing, because that “record speaks for itself†bucket you’re trying to carry around has a hole in the bottom! I'm just sayin....

For the record, I could be wrong, but I don't think moronicus is a Powell guy. He's a District 3 guy. I don't think there are any Powell fans around here doing any chest thumping, especially about their SOS. Powell won the games that they were supposed to during the regular season, they've played good football in the playoffs thus far, and here we stand. These guys know what it takes to make a title game run, regardless of SOS. They've been there before, and they know the kind of focus it takes to win in the playoffs week after week. I still think that the upperclassmen on this Powell team think about that 2010 Powell-AC playoff upset, how they lost their composure, and how they were completely shell-shocked for most of the game (against a team they dominated in the regular season).

I think one of the big motivators for Powell is the fact that few people in Knoxville thought this team had much of a chance to make a run at all this year. People keep talking about the guys they lost from last year's team, or that they have a new, young coach, or that this was supposed to be West's year. Or Lenoir City's. Or even South Doyle's. Powell hasn't been talked about that much locally, even after last year's great season, and I think these kids have that in the back of their minds every Friday night.

It should be a great game tomorrow night, and Powell expects to get THS's best shot. Let's hope the Panthers don't have much of a let down after last week's win over West.

Earlier I made mention of Powell having an easier schedule, which has been disputed. Not to take anything away from the ability of Powell to perform, but I stand by my statement of them having a weak schedule. This is even supported by this very website in the "Strength of Schedule" section, where the 112 5A/6A teams are rated. Out of 112, Tennessee High had the 43rd toughest schedule, while Powell was 109th. Again, I'm liking our odds. Should be a good game.
