Early predictions for 8-AA 2013

The wird is Smith Co looked very unimpressive verse the smaller watertown. Running game sputtered and had a watered down limited passing game with 2 route flood patterns is about it, Either team scored on each other first team defense

No chest thumping from the SC faithful ? Sad times in "Goreville"!!!! :popcorneater:

New coach, new offense, new defense, baseball players had two practice sessions and didn't know any of the plays , complete new system, I'm surprised they didn't get beat. The last I heard was CC was not going to have a team next year. Any word?

I am hearing only 40 players were dressed. I know maybe 20 more freshman might play to give them 60-65, but thats a far cry from 90+ they had 2004-20010.

Ok, i was working in Jackson county today and went over to The Cookeville verse Upperman scrimmage. I know it was just a scrimmage but wow. Cookeville got whipped by Upperman. First 3 times UHS had the ball they scored twice and got to the 1 yard line. First 3 times CHS had the ball they lost more yards than they gained. The two big deffensive lineman and those two good linebackers smashed CHS's running backs. And UHS quaterback is awesome! Throwing and running. The running back for Upperman was good and receivers were not bad. But most impressed in both sides of Uppermans line. Very domniating. They had some kid that looked 300 pounds CHS coundt move and then those two other big lineman around 280 each stayed in the backfield. They looked bigger, stronger, and faster than CHS. I think the starters on starters was 4-1 Upperman. I was so suprised. Cookeville did score a couple late with b-teamers, but the starters got whipped on both sides of the ball. I may be wrong, but my Macon Tigers will struggle verse these guys. And on top of all that, 4 starters still played baseball and 2 starters held out of the game for Upperman accourding to thier parents. Very impressive.

True Story.

Upperman will be pretty good this year. And they should be. They have 20+ seniors and half of them have been playing since they were frosh and soph. York could be the District MVP for Upperman. Upperman did win the scrimmage no doubt, but it was obvious that Cookeville was pretty basic in trying to learn from a new staff, a new system, new terminology, with a couple of weeks work in the books. On top of that, if your going to defend what Upperman does, you will have to prepare for that. And obviously you don't gameplan to win a scrimmage. On the reverse side of that, I was expecting a 6A school to look a lil better, especially in the trenches. Congrats to my good friend Coach Herron who could have a special season this year in Baxter as long as the key players stay healthy. I think it will be a very competitive district this year.

I caught the first half of this scrimmage.Upperman did look very impressive. I could tell Cookeville didn't keem for Upperman, but that probably works both ways. UHS was way more physical than CHS. Looked like theey were quicker, and CHS had no answer for the York kid. The LB's and WR's looked good for UHS, but their OL and DL looked imposing, agressive, and huge.
