Guest EastTennFan
The Falcons scrimmage Sullivan East and Morristown East on Saturday at Volunteer...Volunteer will get the first look to see how much they have improved or taken steps back....Are the Falcons better or worse without Ryan Marshall???? They have a 6'8" now playing in his spot. Will Chucky Lindholm be a star player or just an average high school player????

What about the girls program...are they going to be better or worse this year?
CHHS72
I think you will find that Volunteer will be no worse than last year. In fact I think they will be better because of better team chemistry and the improvement of younger players. The players that have been practicing have looked good and they will be getting three of their best players back after football is over. I doubt they will be much of a factor Saturday even if they are there. They need time to retun to basketball form. When the team gels they will be a very good team. Guest EastTennFan
Predictions on the Season [Edited by EastTennFan on 11-25-02 10:33A]
Stokomo
There have been coaches in the game for 10-20 years without a regional victory and some that have seldom been there. To give an assessment of when is not fair at this juncture. We have players back, but almost any other program would call this year's team a rebuilding one because of all the very young athletes. Only 2-3 seniors that are ready to help, one junior, and a host of Freshmen and Soph's that will make a major contribution to the team's success in the next two years. Coach Whitt. doesn't call this a rebuilding year because he expects a lot from his young guys. The seniors will bring leadership, although there is not a lot of experience on the floor. Guest EastTennFan
What happened in Saturday's scrimmages????? Who won...who looked good....who looked bad...did the footballers play????//
CHHS72
Volunteer beat both Sullivan East and Morristown East. either game was close. Lindholm and Nelms played. They did not start and where worked in. Understandable in light of the fact they have not practiced with the team since last summer. Southam was not there for personal reasons. They have a scrimmage with Science Hill in Johnson City at 6:00 Monday night.

Wilsonball
hey Stokomo how did the scrimage go with Science Hill. Who won and what was the score.
CHHS72
Science Hill beat Volunteer badly. But then again SH is probably too quick for almost anybody they play and they have good size and depth. They should be difficult for anybody they play this year. Volunteer will do alright in their conference and against AA teams and most AAA teams in the area. Volunteer has a scrimmage with Unaka tonight at Unaka. The football players have to get into basketball shape. When they do Volunteer will be tough.
Surf4life
Good Luck to Volunteer this year! I know very little about their program but I knew some people that went to school there and that's a great school. CHHS72 has your opinion changed a little about SH since you saw them play this summer?
