What are your thoughts on the Pre Season Top 10 : 1) Whitehaven, 2) Maryville, 3) Oakland, 4) Sevier County, 5) Mt Juliet, 6) Wilson Central , 7) Siegel , 8) White Station, 9) Dobyns Bennet, 10 ) Brighton

I agree with the top 3, from what I read, Murfreesboro Oakland is loaded with 17 starters back. After that I don't know. I think as a football fan even though Maryville lost a lot, they will have a bounce back with sort of a chip on their shoulders. Can't wait for football season....

Is Science Hill 6A.... seems like I read somewhere on these chat boards that next year might be the year they finally win their district. I think they should probably be in there instead of Brighton. Brighton is usually over-rated and there are a few Memphis teams besides Whitehaven and White Station that can beat them.

Science Hill has the talent, it just has to come together. I am not knocking Science Hill, but they always worry about beating us. How about they figure away to do some damage in the playoffs. I just wish not only us, but the toppers would make some noise in the playoffs. I would stand by the Toppers anyday in the playoffs as long as they are not playing us. Edited by tennesseestud2013

Maryville and a Rutherford County or Nashville team as final two. Mt Juliet and White Station gave Whitehaven fits last year and we were fortunante to get by a Siegal team that was special and led by Sr.'s and that doesnt come arounfd often. Why UT didnt try harder on the Siegal QB is beyond me. It seems it is cyclical for most teams to get to state and we usually face a once in a decade type team when we get there ie White Station and White Haven hadn.t won one before and were pretty loaded when we saw them as was Smyrna. It's about time for a middle TN team to make it to the final game and I believe a chippy Maryville team will be waiting for them. Oakland looks like a good candidate.

Yeah.... I know they have yet to get over the Dobyns Bennett hump. Probably will stay that way but it seems like I heard they have alot coming back and this may be their best shot to get over that hump. I just know that Brighton is always over rated and Science Hill along with a handful of other teams should probably be in there.

Usually 7-AAA goes to the East side of the bracket in the playoffs, as Smyrna going West was a bit of an anomaly. I think that you will see an Oakland vs. Maryville semi-final game.

i agree that maryville and oakland would more than likely be a semifinal matchup.

 

as far as the west bracket goes, it looks like the usual suspects to me (right now). whitehaven or white station against mt. juliet for the other semifinal.

 

idk what williamson county is offering this year, but mt. juliet will be tough as always, and until one of these suburban memphis teams like brighton or arlington can finally break the mold and beat one of the inner city memphis powers, then you've gotta like either whitehaven's or white station's chances of going back to the semifinals.

      Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.

      Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
