If this is your first time ever reading this thread, I will explain how this works. Each week I will select games that I think are big games that invovle a City of Memphis high school, or a team from the Memphis area. We take those games and select who we think will win. We tabulate the scores and keep up with it throughout the regular season. We do the same for the post season as long as there a school from the area participating in the post season. It's fun. Join us.

Now, for Week 0, I've selected the following 12 games:

Games being played Fri., Aug. 23, 2013.

1) Ridgeway @ Olive Branch
2) White Station @ South Panola
3) Germantown @ Millington
4) CBHS @ MBA
5) MUS @ Brentwood Academy
6) Southwind @ East
7) ECS @ Briarcrest
8) Harding Academy @ Friendship Christian
9) St. George's @ Trinty Christian
10) Collierville @ Bolton

Saturday, Aug. 25, 2013

11) Hamilton @ Westwood
12) Mitchell @ Whitehaven

My apologies for the errors earlier. I don't like trying to do this on the Blackberry. I make too many mistakes like that.

I'm going to have to mull these picks over a while. I feel pretty confident about one thing, besides the outcome of the Whitehaven game. That Olive Branch/Ridgeway game will probably score 42 points before halftime!

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
    • Heard Seq has gotten a lot stronger this off season. Can’t wait to see how the boys do this year
