Westview (8-3) hosts Hickman (8-3) {2nd Round}

Recommended Posts

I believe that's what I said also, Westview will be big an well coached, Hickman will play hard and be ready to play. Talk about the ones who will be playing!

Alright let's talk about the boys that are playing. We've got two WRs that are very hard to take down and also like to knock the socks off players when their playing defense! We've got a freshman WR that's really fast and quick at cutting. He's the brother of our star RB that's out. Ask SG how fast he is! He took it 50+ yards on the first play of the game and believe he wasn't touched until he was tackled!!!

Would have thought there would be a little more talk about this one. No smack talk yet?

No trash talking from this program. We just play. We respect other programs, no matter how good or how bad they are. Hickman County is very good or they wouldn't be here. Our Coaches don't, nor would they allow that type of behavior. Our fans get up for the traditional rivals, and like an earlier poster has said...the only "limited" trash talking banter goes on between an in-county team and us. Our Coaches don't yell at the refs, "flip" off the other teams, or teach any dirty tactics....they teach and coach football. Our kids play the same style, even against the "dirtier" teams we occasionally face. We hope for a good game, we hope for a win, but most of all we hope that no one gets injured....after the game, if you gave your best effort and lose--you don't have to hold your head down or blame others. We win with class and we lose with class. I think we will pull this out at home, but if we don't---we'll wish Hickman County the best of luck and maybe, some day down the road, get the redemption game another year. We look forward to having Hickman County come in and play, and hope your team and fans have safe travels before and after the game. Dress warm---it's going to be a little chilly. You guys have an awesome running attack and a solid defense. We have enough problems to worry about, instead of trash talk.

Why all the who beat who? HC plays MW in a playoff game and none of the other stuff counts. If no.7 got hurt in the Camden game then they have won to my count 4 plus games since then, depending on at what point he was hurt. Hickman will travel Fri night and be prepared to fight as I know one of there coaches and he will have done his best to get prepared to play. East had a great year and congrats to Coach King but they are out, can we limit the conversation to what is relevant.

What is relevant is anything the poster want to talk about.  If there were no posters.... there would be no coach T.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
