Here are the standings as of today. There still could be some serious shake-ups as several teams are yet to play each other due to weather, which includes H-ville/MtJuliet. Should be interesting. From the score, it appeared that Wilson Central gave Mt Juliet a tough game last night. Anyone watch the game?

MJ played very uninspired basketball against WC which allowed them to stay close. The lead was up to 17 at the end of the third quarter. McCabe did not play well, caught an elbow in the nose early and seemed distracted throughout. WC is scrappy with a couple decent outside shooters but they would have to play lights out and MJ would have to not show up at all for the outcome to be the other way. Can't wait for MJ/ Hendersonville on Monday, they have seperated themselves from the rest of the district and Monday should give us the answers we are all looking for.

They have some young talent on WC. A couple of Sophomores and Freshmen that will turn into nice players over the next couple of years. Just not ready to compete with MJ this year. I think Bud is getting alot out of the talent this year and they have actually won more games than most have expected. MJ is too big for most of the teams in 9AAA. Hendersonville will probably be the only team that can rebound with them. Monday night should tell the tale. From what I've seen so far from 9AAA and 10AAA, MJ and Hendersonville should meet each other for the 5AAA region championship and both go to sub-state games. Nobody from 10AAA has really impressed me, MJ beat Dickson  Co. by 40 points and DC beat Rossview who is supposed to be "good".

With Hendersonville losing back to back district games to WC and MJ, WC moves to 2nd in the standings. Looking at records and boxscores, it definitely seems that Rossview is the best team in 9AAA. They beat Hendersonville, Gallatin and Station Camp early in the year also. I saw them at the Riverdale Christmas tournament. They are big! I think they will have the size to match up with Mt Juliet but their guard play wasnt very good. I dont think anyone else in 9AAA will win a game in the region. I can't wait for tournament time! Any given night, anyone can beat anyone. It looks like WC is going to be a team to be reckoned with. Should be interesting...

I think you meant that 10AAA won't win a game besides Rossview.  Regardless, Mt. Juliet appears to be the class of Region 5.  It looks like it's Mt. Juliet and then a group of a couple possible teams that could make the sectional.  (Rossview, Hendersonville, Wilson Central being the most likely, but maybe Beech or Galatin)

Yes, I meant 10AAA. Thanks. And I agree MJ seems to be about 10 pts better than the second tier teams in the region. I think the Baker girl at Beech could get hot and they could upset someone but I dont think Gallatin will be in the mix. Not enough ballhandling and/or scoring in my opinion.

    • Looks like South Pittsburg added some more talent!
    • So much talk about an investigation about student record manipulation and then everything has went silent. Has anyone heard how the investigation is going?
    • Basically what you're saying is schools can basically bully students around and get away with it because they are protected. I agree to a certain extent but when schools decisions to keep knuckleheads on staff starts costing kids careers and a college education there is a problem. Our school system last week had a teacher supposedly push a kid and the parents went to the law and the teacher is suspended. So I wouldn't say that they can just do what they want without liability. This case don't pass the smell test because the coach had already been fired before and she got fired after a year on the job. Sounds like the student was right in this case on the outside looking in because the coach gets fired after one year. How many coaches get fired after one year?? Not many.
    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
