I wanted Chad as much as anyone, but can we please move on. He is the coach at McNairy Central now. Coach Rang is our head coach so lets support him and the young men on the team. You can't kick these kids to the curb just because we didn't get the coach we wanted. That's like the little kid that takes his toys and goes home because he didn't get his way. Trust me these kids read everything that is said on here.

CONGRATULATIONS Coach Hodge! I gonna go find & post in McNairy thread about their great new coach and congrat them too. Our Lions were enthused and energetic at their first practice with our new Coach. Time will tell how the season goes... I'm excited though with high expectations! GO LIONS! #1 ALL THE WAY!

I'm sure they do and I'm sure this doesn't surprise or bother them like it seems to bother you. This will pass and the talk on here will be Dresden football as it should be. But at the moment this is big news that the players expect. They love Hodge and are likely happy for him.

Two McNairy threads are talking about their new head coach.. our old beloved one. So back to this Dresden Lion thread, yesterday Coach Rang was very enthusiastic and energetic, he had our guys hustling hard, Lion players were excited and upbeat during first practice going all out to impress new coach, we had a little over 40 players out there (hard to count with so much movement going on), and though it was just first one, this practice seemed to have a great feeling to it, a positive "vibe" and "aura" about it. Time reveals all things... but it sure will be FUN to see what transpires as season develops, both here (Dresden), there (Murray), & over yonder (McNairy). All three places have super coaches, and no doubt these three teams will be powerhouses! But the best of this bunch is, tada, Dresden! Play these three teams in a round-robin, or each other, I say Dresden wins every time! Something special about our players now, thanks to winning attitudes developed by previous coaches, and no matter who coaching them, they'll definitely be hard to beat! And with Derek Rang now at the helm, dude, watch out! This is winners being coached by a winner! YES! :) GO LIONS! #1 ALL THE WAY!

Went by practice today. Boys are very familiar with up downs. Seen them do several for butter fingers! Coach raised his voice a few times. Looked like hutch and quincy were swapping reps at QB. Both of them looked solid. Ways to go and hopefully Rang can hang on to DeBerry. Really hate to lose another coach of that caliber.

Be careful what you ask for Rev. MCHS is 4A and Murray will be pretty stout. We should get to see them at Jamboree at Henry County

I have been to every practice so far and I will have to say it looks a lot different from last year. No one stands around everyone is involved everyone must run to the ball and if you don't run to the ball the up downs follow. Coach Rang is going to make sure on defense the whole team runs to the ball. Very impressed with practice keep it up boys hard work pays off in the end

I'm holding judgement until the season is underway. Worst record Dresden has had while Keith was there is 6&4 his first year as an assistant (7&4 as head coach). Went to state then semi's been in contention for district every year, beat Westview two of three years (which is only good for bragging rights). Haven't met the coach but watch a little of practice and I like his energy. He better be careful though cause we have some parents who don't enjoy the energy as much as us die hard fans. Think we have some play makers on both sides of the ball but we will be pretty young in some key positions. Good thing is several youngsters had lots of playing time last year.

    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
    • You’re a fool if you think I have more than one account
    • Looking back they had better records than I recalled against upper East TN.  But they still took off once ballard got there. And beating other good programs
