Houston County vs. Nashville Christian

Houston County can not help who they have to play. The district schedule is always set and nothing you can do about that. Each year they play rivals such at Montgomery Central, Stewart County, and Waverly who are always competitive. Looking at the schedule, they are playing Rossview, Community, Ezell Harding, Summertown, Collinwood, Riverside who are always tough.

They have played POPE who is always good and beat a Wayne County team who will have something to say about the district before it's all said and done. I think houston still has to play Stewart County again which will also be a good match for them. it will be an interesting year to say the least. What is the schedule like for the Summertown Classic coming up and who is in it?

if we are on here we pretty much know that district games are set and you have to play them but i am talking about non district games. And stewart county only hung in there for a little while. I don't think Stewart Co. can do anything with Houston Co but who knows. As for some of the teams you named sbove they are not very competitive this year. You need to play those bigger, better and faster teams to make your team player harder and for the end result.

Not competitive? Houston strolled into Summertown last night to face a team with a starter out with an injury and another starter with the flu.....here is what took place.....stown did not back down a bit and hung with them....hchs had a great 2nd quarter out scoring the lady eagles 24-5 and yet only won by 13.....they are very physical and #45 camps out in the lane and likes to hold post players arms....#41 is very talented and their best player is #32....careful about calling teams "not competitive"

I think everyone is in agreement that Houston Co. has a solid team this year, however i don't think we will find out how good they really are until the tournaments roll around and they are in a win or go home type of game. Summertown has been a solid program from many years as has Wayne Co. and some of the other teams over in that area so they will know how to win those type of games. It will be up to Houston Co. to prove they can win a close game when it matters most

The 4 best possibilities for a sub-state opponent would be Loretto,Collinwood,Summertown,or Wayne Co.These are the best from Region 6 IMO and I have seen most of both regions play.Region 5 1-5 would be Houston Co,Community,Forrest,Nashville Christian and Moore Co.I see Houston Co and Community making it to the Boro this year.Where are these district and region tourneys being played?

Summertown is the best team HC has played,I was at the game and you all have a good chance to get another shot at HC.People that know the game wouldn't make comments like Watkins, there are several solid teams that HC has already played and they have Rossview,Ezell-Harding and Community still to come.I think Coach has done much better improving their schedule.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
