No district tourney,  top two teams advance.

Alabama does that. No district tournament.  Don't finish first or second in your district your season is over.

2-of-3 bracket...

Georgia takes top 4 and seeds them across the state so one district can (and may this year?) be the final four

Also 2-of-3 bracket...

Adjust the home plate slide rule. In the District tourney Saturday I saw a kid from Alcoa get thrown out for not sliding into home against CAK, when the catcher was 10' up the line! Understand he is now out for 2 games. He really had no other option that I could tell other than just fall down!

There is no slide rule. A player must only attempt to avoid contact. Sounds like either the umpire was sucked into the same false belief of the "must slide rule", like countless others, or there is more to the situation that you included in your post. A fielder cannot occupy the base line without the ball. If the fielder was moving up the line and contact was made with the runner, the umpire may have decided the runner could have avoided the contact and instead purposefully and malicious contacted the fielder.

That may have been the case Cocheese.  He did plant the catcher pretty good! It was a bang- bang play as the catcher caught the ball just a split second before the impact, but 10' up the line. Guess it was actually a bang-bang-bang play, with the 3rd "bang" being the catcher hitting the dirt.  :)

Boy, I was all set for my 'one' thing to be to change the post season format, but.............more kids affected by allowing Fall practice with scrimmages etc.  For all the reasons given.  Football and basketball have terrifically long seasons with additional practice times during the off season.  Fall baseball is just the right thing to do.

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
