  1. I understand the ball control / running philosophy of Alcoa, and you cannot argue with the results, but can you imagine if they ever opened up that offense! Some of the best athletes around but not being fully utilized. Same with their BB team. Athletes all over the court and they rarely press and run plays that teams with poor athletes have to use. Strange.
  2. Unfortunately, I see CAK heading down the path to obscurity. The decision to go the private school path will eventually erode the talent base in all sports and send them spiraling in the direction of Webb. Irrelevant to anyone but parents, grandparents and girlfriends. Hey....I kid! Just a good chance to take a shot at our old rivals. 😜 Seriously though, they probably will decline some in FB. A lot of those kids will start heading to KCHS or back to public powers and it will be a hit to both depth and talent.
  3. What jumps out at me in the video is the speed of the o line. Of course then most guys were sub 200 lbs and athletic. Most HS linemen now are bulked up with so much protein and other muscle building crap that they are huge but in my opinion not nearly as athletic.
  4. Well, this crow will be delicious. Congrats to Fulton!
  5. Better get use to it. I truly do not see Alcoa losing another 3A State Championship at least until the next go around on reclassification. Probably not even then....powerhouse.
  6. That is usually what happens in the playoffs as far as refs coming in from other regions. I believe we are too strong for Fulton this year; KC 48 Fulton 14. Really cannot see any team in TN (you too Maryville and Alcoa) hanging with the Irish this season.
  7. I wonder where wm blount and heritage would hide if AHS moved to 6A? I also saw where they were dropping Alcoa next year but I wonder what would have happened if they either had beaten them this year or at least were competitive? I am guessing they would still want to play. The message they are sending to their players, fans and students by refusing to play is pretty sad.
  8. Decent game for the Irish but should have been a larger spread. I can't figure out Alcoa. They seem to have the players but I am not sold on the coaching. Not really sure what they are trying to do on offense or defense and it looks like "organized confusion". Would love to hear some Alcoa fans takes on the team and coaches.
  9. Just saw a report that the Alcoa QB has a sprained ankle and not a break. Good news for him and alcoa.
  10. Yes, pretty sure I know who you are referring to and I agree with you. I have seen them play 3 times this year and he has been an embarrassment to the program every game that I have seen. Hopefully UT coaches will change that next year. I did notice that he was on the bench the last quarter or so too.
  11. Where did #32 (MHS) come from? Don't remember seeing him before.
  12. Sorry, didn't mean you but was talking about the article. Not sure if that was mutually agreed upon spin or if GQ did that one by himself. I am sure we will hear more.
  13. Nice attempt at spin. PS GreyriderY.....who is "Cold Coffee" now?
  14. Yes! It is going to be a big story!
  15. Are you talking about the D coordinator quiting or being fired today? Is that true? I heard that rumor a little while ago but wasn't sure whether to believe it or not.
  16. hmmm...yea, whatever you think. Pretty sure the school is just coming off of one of its most successful years ever overall with the exception of girls BB.
  17. Congrats to Maryville! You hired a great Coach and a great man for your kids. We will miss him a lot! Also, he is now the best baseball coach in Blount County and it is NOT EVEN CLOSE! Get ready for some really good teams.
  18. When you have multiple errors behind you your pitch count goes up a ton. Wil Crowe, who was a pretty strong D1 prospect, threw 157 in the State Championship game a couple of years ago. Where was Wil Crowe last week? Having Tommy John surgery at the Andrews Clinic in FL! article: MURFREESBORO — A plastic bag of ice rested on the infield grass of Middle Tennessee State’s Reese Smith Jr. Field late Friday afternoon, and it was reserved for Wil Crowe. He wanted no part of it and set his glove on top of it. Even after a 157-pitch, 15-strikeout effort in Pigeon Forge’s 5-3, come-from-behind win over Goodpasture in the Class AA state championship, the senior pitcher said his arm felt fine and wanted only to pose for celebratory pictures — with the championship trophy that nearly escaped him. “It doesn’t hurt, ever,†Crowe said of his arm, “especially today.†It helped that the Tigers (39-2) captured the school’s first team championship in any sport by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh inning
  19. Over the last month I have seen some terrible overuse of young arms with teams we have played. The latest involved a junior pitcher from Kingston that pitched over 50 pitches in our first district game with them and then came back two nights later and threw 110 + pitches during our second game! Alcoa's really good junior pitcher threw 125 against us when he beat us earlier in the year. A CAK dad said he threw that many against them a few days later and had even more in a non district game the prior game. I find this appalling! I have heard that both of these kids are D1 prospects and are obviously talented competitors that want to stay in the game, but these two coaches are putting their careers at risk trying to win a HS game. If they cannot police themselves I think it is time to have the TSSAA step in with mandatory pitch counts and days off. Is this all over the state or just a problem in our district??
  20. Will Collierville have a chance in W. TN? They look like they are sending a bunch of kids on to college teams.
  21. Who knows?! I have heard that we are and heard that we will stay or even that we will go to all private......I don't think anyone knows for sure.
  22. Great game! Proud of how hard they played and how much grit they showed. Made be a little nervous though!
