Oakland vs Blackman

Who will be favored in this match up for week 0 on ESPN and why? I know Blackman lost a lot on defense from last year.

 

This will be a great game. Glad both schools will get some national recognition.

Will be interesting to see if Blackman's defense can jell in time for this game. This better be a prime concern in their pre-season scrimmages. BTW who is their pre-season scrimmage opponents and when/where will they be playing them?

I'm picking Oakland in this one. Blackman will be very good this year but playing in Week 0 gives the Patriots an even bigger advantage. A young defense still adjusting to a new coordinator going up against an experienced, battle-tested Oakland team is not a recipe for success. Plus, Oakland just has too much talent coming back. I'd be surprised if the Blaze pull out a win. This could be a special season (gold ball?) for the Patriots if they catch a couple breaks along the way and stay healthy.

Didn't Blackman hire Scott Keasler former head coach at Summit High School and former DC at Smyrna High School to be their DC? If so that was a heck of a hire. Excellent defensive coach. Good motivator. I have seen first hand how kids respond to him. They just seem to buy into without questions asked. That defense will fine.

Actually, Keasler will just be a position coach. David Watson is the defensive coordinator

If Keesler was the coach at Summit the night Stewie hung 56 on them, I'll take Oakland in that one.

 

Besides, veteran players like Jamie Kent at BHS have departed while Oakland gets back Tyler Black from his injury and get some transfers.
