Game 1:  Ridgeway @ Olive Branch (MS)

Even with the Best or 2nd Best QB in the Area I don't see the Road Runners avoiding that OB Home Cooking

Olive Branch by 6

Game 2:  East @ Southwind

Toss up imo but I give the Mustang's the coaching edge over the Jags.

Memphis East by 2

Game 3:  White Station @ South Panola

I really think this spread could be greater but I don't want to come off as disrespectful to our main 16AAA competition and give some "fake" bulletin board material.

South Panola by 14

Game 4:  MBA @ CBHS

Home cooking will play a major role imho

CBHS by 1

Game 5:  Houston @ Cordova

New coach over at Houston may have a slow start.

Cordova by 7

Game 6:  Jackson Trinity Christian at St. George's

St. George's

Game 7:  Millington @ Germantown

I think the Red Devils home field advantage will make the difference unless Millington has found a QB.

G-Town by 10

Game 8:  Brentwood Aca. @ MUS

I think MUS's defense will be tested beyond measure.

Brentwood Academy by 5

Game 9:  Mitchell @ Whitehaven

This game will be close for a quarter or maybe even a quarter but superior depth and talent should play a major factor in this game.

Quarterback should be a strength of this Millington team as they will have a 3rd year starter at that position for the first time in 25 years. Junior Eldon Tyms is on pace to own every single career passing record that that Millington has. (I realize they have been a predominant Running offense until recent years). Not many people have the opportunity to start for three years at QB let alone four. Look for Tyms to put up big numbers this year as he has a number of athletic WR's that can take it the distance on short swing passes.  The big question for the Trojans this year as it has been in recent years is the Offensive and defensive lines. If  there is marked improvement in those areas that the Trojans could have a double digit win season. If not, they 7 or 8 games is still a real possibility.

I like these just don't know if CBHS can beat MBA . I may be wrong but I have them near the top of d2. Then again I didn't think father ryan could beat BA last year ... And I ate a lot of crow. Goofy things happen on Friday nights at times.

Though I always pull for local teams when they play out of town teams, I think MBA will win this one and quite possible handily. Instead of stepping up and raising the football program to the elite level much like MUS has, CBHS decided that "good" was good enough. As such, they will be a good team moving forward but never elite. Unfortunately, It takes an elite team to compete with the likes of MUS, Brentwood Academy, and Einsworth for a state championship. As it stands, I don't see CBHS competing at that level.

Whitehaven Classic kickoff times have changed. Due to high temperatures expected to push the heat index to dangerous levels, the kickoff times have been rescheduled to the following:

Hamilton vs Westwood at 5

Hillcrest vs Fairley at 7

Whitehaven vs Mitchell at 9.

By the way, I haven't heard if the North Memphis Classic has changed it's times or not.

North Memphis Classic: (Saturday, August 23 in Crump Stadium)

Raleigh Egypt vs Manassas @ 3

Craigmaont vs Douglas @ 5:30

Trezevant vs MLK @ 8
