wbryguy
May not mean much considering it's all got to play out, but where would you slot Macon Co? Just curious. MC lost two of their starters from last year but gain freshman Carlisle. If Welch doesn't try to go to deep on the bench it could be a great year. BigBoy2008
They could be as good as 2nd but if the coach pulls his reigns on them as usual it could be as low as 4th. They are at their best when they play at full speed.
UpperCumberlandMan
I say 1. LA no one even close and could make a push for state. Hollars and Elderidge are the best 1-2 punch in this district maybe ever. Hayes will be the best freshman in the district 2. UHS the two McWilliams boys are pretty good, plus two projected CHS starters transffered in, and the Guffy kid will make a good starting five. 3. Macon has all the starter back plus Carlise, should have a great season. 4. York 5. Cannon 6. Dekalb 7. Smith 8. CM Edited October 8, 2014 by UpperCumberlandMan

Carlise will be freshman of the year; Hayes is good, but not in the same league as Seth - very few freshmen have the size and strength as Carlisle especially for a non-"hold back" kid - he's only 14. CM i say the district will be between livingston and cannon. no one else is even close. upperman is good but small. we beat them by 30 this summer. we only beat cannon by 3. cannon is very good. Just judging. By what I seen in travel ball with my gals. Seen Carlisle from MC,Cushing from UH, and Hayes from LA. I though Hayes was the best. Not saying Carlisle was bad though. I was basing UH pick on Guffy being the best pure shooter in the district and the brothers who transfered from CHS. One I suppose to be like 6'3. The Shrum boys at Upperman will make it more competitive in this district. This will be a fun district to watch, lots of good players top to bottom. It wouldn't surprise me if Hayes or Carlisle were FOY, I'm not familiar with the kid from UH, although I'm sure I saw him at Cornerstone/South Cumberland games in Middle School - Hayes can really make a difference when playing with good players around him which should be the case in high school, but he can be shut down if he is the main option on the team like his middle school teams - but he will be an impact player for Livingston. Carlisle can "take over" with his size and power - can be a "go to" guy. Looking forward to keeping up with this district.
thejoker
Smith County has a pretty good freshman class. It will be interesting to see how they, with the rest of the Owls stack up in the district.
uknow22
Yes Smith County has a good freshman class coming in, but this district will be between two teams, Cannon County and Livingston will battle at least three times this season and a possible fourth in the region finals. wbryguy
Bold statement but I'm on board with you if it's possible. I do think for some reason our coaching staff is a little underestimated. I hope I am correct on that assessment and they can prove what your saying. Watched us play this summer (yes it's summer and yes it was just twice) but we may not have the horses LA does but I feel we are pretty dang solid. Guess we shall see. uknow22
Wbryguy- District 8-AA will be very good this year but at end of it all, LA and Cannon will be matching up for the big show. Upperman will always be good with McWilliams at the helm, from what I have heard from the summer, Macon County could be the sleeper. But we will see
