Crews and Pierce are both getting close to retirement and Dixon has actually been due retirement so it'll be interesting to see how and who will be offered the head job and whether they all decide to stick around. Hopefully there won't be another Charlie Foxtrot like '06.

hope not...you have some good talent..Go Cats

Pierce actually retired from coaching after last season, I hope if Rice actually leaves that Coach Pierce comes back to help coach Crews.

My SR yr....We was lost as could be huh? lol We didnt have a spring practice bcuz we had NO coach! Finally Ricky showed up outta that crap hole over at Perry County but we only had the summer to learn his play style, Off, Def, Etc. Yet we still made the playoffs and beat a top 5 team in 1A State rankings in the first round @ Cascade. You was a part of that team wasnt you?

Crews will stick around i believe due to him having his son in Middle school now. I dont think he really wants the responsibility of being the HC again. I think we need some fresh new blood in that field house. Like i said Derek Willis would be a good Head Coach at the HS level but i dont think he is ready for it just yet but with the ZERO amount of money Wayne Co school board spends for coaches it mpre than likely ends up being him. He has been the HC at the Middle school and Athletic Director for a few years now.

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
