That Goose egg was a hard pill to swallow!

In 25+ years of watching Tornado football that game was one of the hardest to watch. The players never gave up. But,everytime the offense would get rolling something crazy would kill the drive....sigh. it's made for a long winter.

Take years starting in 2000 to 2013. Alcoa won 9 Championships. There was one constant. The Alcoa School system, Community, and high player talent. A system that dresses almost 100 players for summer practice. Within that same time frame there has been three head football coaches.So key to that success is....?

BC is the original Alcoa man on these boards, he's forgotten 99% more about that program than you can ever pretend like you know... When you stop pretending like you know everything about Alcoa, then maybe people will respect you.

People tend to forget that Rankin has won Alcoa nearly HALF their championships, not to mention more games than any other coach in Alcoa history.

with advantages 90% of other schools in 3a dont have. Not to mention lots of those other championships came from when there were only 3 classes and 4 classes. Now we have 8 classes and its way watered down. Edited March 20, 2015 by UpperCumberlandMan

not the two I would mention in the top 4 reasons. Coaching? 2009-2010 probably 20 coaches or more in the state could win state with that talent.

Ask yourself this....if Rankin spent the last 10 years in Unicoi Co, how many championships would he have won? Its a little bit about the x's and 0's ,but mostly about the jimmy and joes.Either you have them, or you dont.

He's already had two tough jobs at Smith County and Riverdale and turned them around fairly quickly.
