Guessing 17 is M.C.? Didn't want to post a minors name, but he can play! Signal still trying to find the right personel and positions. 1-1 vs Collinsville, Al tonight. We've basically played as many games as we've had practices thanks to the weather.

Tough for a young team that graduated 8 starters. Think our goalie stepped on a soccer field for the 7th time since he was 6 years old this afternoon. Had to wait until basketball was over to even practice, but great athlete and looks comfortable back there.

That's a confidence building game for ND. Anyone know anything about CCS?

Yes, you have those initials correct.

I know that CCS beat McMinn County 2-0 and Coffee County 5-0 this week.

We really need to recruit some more fans from different teams to help fill in the CoachT scoreboard each night.

Signal played the Bledsoe team tonight and only let people who hadn't scored before shoot. Also only 1 SR. played, several 8th and 9th graders played a lot. 7-0 and we quit shooting. We need a mercy rule in TN like they have elsewhere, the last 30 minutes of the game was keep-away.

Congrats to their coach for getting kids outside and running. Was a very co-Ed team. Keeping them involved playing sports rather than just giving up and being couch potatoes or full-time X-Box fanatics is to be commended!

Hardin Valley dropped 17 on William Blount tonight.

Then the Hardin Valley coach must be a db too, just like ND's.

There is zero reason in the world to be shooting a ball on net after a team is up 7 or 8 to nothing.

I watched state championship teams last year take a 4-0 or 5-0 leads then play a passing game. Only shots allowed were from headers AFTER a minimum of 10 passes.

These soccer "coaches" will get theirs down the road.

Ron, you'll like the fact that 3 or 4 times in the Bledsoe game, one of our better scorers had the ball inside the 6 and the goalie flat footed and turned around to send a pass back to midfield. Among other duties, I run the scoreboard at Signal games, no matter the score, it has never shown a visitor down more than 5. Scoreboard malfunction. Don't think we've ever allowed our team to score more than 8, but scoreboard would show 5-0 or 6-1 if the other team scored against the young guys.

Well played.....I have a special place in my heart for ole Signal Mtn. I worked 3 years at SMCC as a server and bartender my junior and senior years of high school and holidays and summer once I went to college. My son spent the nigh on the mountain for the first time a couple weeks ago and he got to expierence the fog I've always told him about.....it can b ebrutal up there

Many moons ago (1995) I helped coach a high school team in North Carolina that got pasted 20-0 by a team that had this guy on it -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eddie_Robinson_%28soccer%29 -- along with 6 of his regional champion club teammates. They were up on us 9-0 at halftime and completely replaced the starters. The 11 subs scored 11 goals. We never felt like we were being disrespected, and one slightly helpful reason was that the clock operator declined to put any more goals on the scoreboard after 9. A few weeks later, we played the arch-rival of this team, and they beat us 5-0, playing possession for most of the second half. Our kids felt far more insulted by a team playing keep-away than by a team that actually played to the objective of the game.

    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
