FreeAgent, I'd like you to consider Nicholas Hopkins, junior PG from Fayetteville for your Class A vote.  Playing on the varsity squad since he was in the 8th grade, Nick has surpassed several career milestones.  He currently is sitting on 1803 career points (as of Friday the 30th).  Averaging 21.7 ppg, he also is accounting for 4.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 3.4 steals per game to lead Fayetteville High to their 21-2 current record.  With two more regular season, non-district games still to be played before the district tournament, he has the opportunity to add to his impressive stats. He is currently holding an offer from Tennessee Tech, but he is also getting some interest from Belmont, Lipscomb, and some others.  He passed the 1,000 point mark as a  sophomore.  If this video link works, you can look at some of his highlights, including video of him on a Nike Georgia Stars 16U team last summer and videos of his freshman and sophomore years.  Also one of him playing on a Nashville summer team.  If it doesn't, you might copy it to your browser.

And best of all, his GPA after three semesters is a 3.69 and was a 3.5 or better as a freshman and sophomore!

A west tn. Tucker campbell Aville has to be at top of list. Only player mentioned with career average double double. Bball is a lot more than scoring people. It's rebounding, assisting, shooting efficiently. Best all around numbers. Averages around 19 and 11 per. 1600 plus scored nearing 1000 rebounds 95 blocks etc.

Agreed. Wasn't real familiar with him except for a couple district games last 2years but have watched him play 4 times this year and he is real good. In a couple games I saw I bet he didn't shoot 10 times.

I would love to see everyone that's in the conversation stats and team win loss record. I was strictly speaking on the ones I have seen from west tn only. Certainly there are others throughout the state in each classification that have great stats also. Would like to see em all to be able to compare.

I agree would be cool to compare stats on all these kids. Stats don't tell the complete story but probably a good starting place. I figure for single A the votes will go to Martin from Mitchell or one of the Union City players cause they the best 2 teams in state.

  • 2 weeks later...

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) has been a mainstay on the scoring list and this week shall be no different. The scoring senior busted a cool 33 against Memphis Central then reached a milestone dropping 43 points against Wooddale and passing the 2,000 point mark for his prep career.

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 37pts vs. Jackson Northside

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 34pts vs. Covington

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 43pts vs. Wooddale

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 33pts vs. Memphis Centra

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 25pts vs. Crockett County

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 35pts vs. Brighton

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 29pts vs. Obion County

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 28pts vs. Crockett County

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 40pts vs. Lexington

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 51pts vs. Brighton

Chad Culbreath (Ripley) 31pts vs. MUS

Ripley (74) — Chad Culbreath 45 vs Covington Last Night!

I must say Ripley's Chad Culbreath is the most underrated player in the state hands down. First time I seen this kid play was against haywood last yr in the district championship. Haywood was undefeated and everyone thought Ripley had no shot. culbreath sat most of the 3rd to catch fire in the 4th. Haywood box and 1 him and he had atleast 20 in the 4th quarter. They gave Haywood their 1st lost but Ripley lost in sub state behind Culbreaths 37 points. Manassas (65) — Rayford Albright 26, Tony Atkins 2, DeShun Bell 10, Deadrick Brown 3, Marcus Nesby 8, Courtney Smith 8, Fernando Wilkins 8.

Ripley-Tenn. (62) — Xavier Alston 2, J.Q. Atkins 5, Steven Collins 4, Chad Culbreath 37, Famous Jones 7, Xavier Lumpkin 5, Gerry White 2

Culbreath is hands down the best PG in AA he has no hype like other players in the state but his numbers does not lie.

Didn't Ripley play UC earlier this year? How did they do and how many points did Culbreath have against UC?

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
