UpperCumberlandMan
Difference is: Derek Dooley had a LOSING record when UT hired him. Butch is 12-13 at UT....another 7-5 will put hin on the hot seat just like Dooley

Butch was 50-27 when Tennessee hired him. Doofus was 17-20.

Time for Butch to win 9 plus to keep selling his brick by brick to recruits Edited April 17, 2015 by UpperCumberlandMan
OutlawJoseyWales
may I try and answer.... Hired a coach from a very small program and where he hasn't had much success there to lead a way bigger program coming off a very successfull 2014. Add he is coming from a rather weak 1a district to the strongest 3a district in the state. On paper, the hire doesn't look promissing. Well said Upper

UpperCumberlandMan
8-4 is a good enough improvement for 2015 and 2016 will be 9-10 winsLet's say this comes true, that would be 20 loses in 4 years. Avg of 5 loses a year. Then add in, 2013 finished 4th in recruiting, 9th in 2014, currently sitting at 13th for this year.......he needs to win 9 plus to keep kids buying into his system. leo74
If Crabtree was rejected, I wonder how many other more qualified coaches applied and was passed up on. I am also curious if this hire was more so because of a possible history of the new coache's father and Loudon or because they truly think he is a good hire.
