A few years ago Gary Rankin made the statement that McMinn Central's football team was "dirty as Crap" after their first round playoff game. Since I am from McMinn Co and have connections to that program it really made me mad and I lost respect for Rankin after he said that. So I have referred to him as "Dirty as Crap" Rankin ever since.

So it wasn't dirty that one of MC's players went up to one of our offensive linemen in the pregame and kicked him in the groin? Them Chargers played pretty dirty that night, so Rankin had to pull his starters early to avoid ejections.

I wasn't at the game. Having said that, I asked multiple people that were at the game what happened and they all told me there was alot of extra-curricular activity on both sides. I was told it was just the standard chippy game where emotions run high and people do some stupid stuff. But even if that wasn't the case I still think Rankin was foolish for saying the things he said. I have never seen that kind of thing before and I doubt I will again.

Most of the extra curricular from our side was retaliation for that groin shot (which MC truly deserved). Rankin was just telling the truth after the game about their style of play.

Well all I know is WB has been the victim of cheap shots from other teams more than a few times. The most notable one being when Bearden's App State commit drop kicked one of our linemam when he was on the ground. And I don't recall our coaches ever going to the paper and saying the teams were dirty as Crap.

Having played Alcoa twice a year for years now, I have always found them to be incredibly well disciplined and excellent sportsmanship. I can only think of one play that was clearly a cheap shot, and frankly, as clean as CAK plays, I can think of at least one play our kids made that was not clean. Kids will be kids at times, but it is clear that the leadership of Alcoa doesn't put up with dirty play.
