Becker was awesome. He shadowed Spencer Gulmire everywhere he went seemed like. Spencer couldn't get anything done in that game. Didn't help that it was a downpour and we had no passing game to speak of either, but neither did they, so can't use that excuse. That game was a slobberknocker. Neither team could do much, they just happened to score one more time than we did.

Even more crazy how ALL of the scoring came in the first quarter, and the drives weren't really that long. Gulmire was a solid back for sure, and I personally think he should have at least one state ring, either in 2003 or 2005.

I think Gulmire and Becker may have roomed together at Austin Peay. I think I heard that.

Yep, and they've been relevant for most of the years they've been around.

Yes they have. We didn't play them in 2005, but they absolutely drilled us 41-7 in 2004. That was Joe Gaddis' first season here. We weren't very good that year, but that was the only game I remember that wasn't even remotely competitive. Good program then, and they still are now.

Gaddis worked wonders at Henry County for sure. Counce is a great coach (2 gold trophies speak for themselves), but JG obviously deserves credit for turning the Patriots around.

Very true. But in my opinion, Counce did more with less.

It's arguable. Gaddis did have better ELITE talent to work with, but Counce had more quantity of very good talent (depth). And he also had an easier path to both gold balls.

Both were great coaches who did great things for Henry County. I say we just leave it at that.

    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
    • Dorian Eskridge had a great Junior year, highlighted by a great game to lead HVA to an upset win at OR that year. I think that was 2010. In 2011 OR won at HVA. OR had a real good QB that year l think. Dorian Eskridge had a great senior year also. He always played hard from the DCM videos l saw.
    • It seems we lost a ton to graduation. We shall see how it shapes up for 2024.
