Smith County vs. Macon County

UpperCumberlandMan=again your story is cloudy.  SC had the ball coming  out of their own endzone after a 76 yard punt by Macon Co.  SC got two first downs.  Had the ball 3rd and 2, and did not get it.  After that SC punted.  The ball traveled 14 yards.  Macon County got the ball around midfield.  Came out trying to throw it, and couldn't.  Hudson had a nice run, on a draw I think.  Macon went back to the pass, and had one almost picked off by the SC free safety. Coach Pat Dyer told the OC not to throw it again.  They got the ball where Kittrell wanted it, and bang. It would have been good from 60.  SC got the ball  back with about 1:00 and couldn't muster anything.  I know this is the truth because I lived it.  One of the most gut wrenching/exciting weeks and games I have ever been apart of.  SC had there chances and couldn't put Macon away.  Macon kept punching, and delivered the knockout blow.

Jut going off tall tails of the game...ones who lived it would know better. Did watch MC that year verses TC, very big OL and DL. York at WR, Dallas at RB and Hudson at RB all had good speed. The FB-DE was huge. Makes you wonder what 12-2 MC would have been if that qb had stayed. I know Fulton was very good. So was the crowd at Macon as big as people say it was?

Very big crowd, and eletric atmosphere.  They had to turn people away.  People were 3-5 deep all the way around the field.  Several on the ouside looking in.   Don't think the QB would have made any difference in their season except maybe the first game.  There were 4 very good teams in the region. TC, Macon, Smith, LA.  On any given night any outcome was possible.

Don't forget Portland.

I think MC was 11-1 and SC was 10-2. That was the year LA started the season 1-3 before changing their offense and winning their last 7 including a bowl game despite not making the playoffs. LA was better than both these teams by year end but still wouldn't have beat Uncle Jimmy.

Sorry OldCat but the 03' Cats couldn't beat either one beginning or end.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
