Just listened to Walt. You bobcat fans are simply idiots. Firing a high school coach mid season at a rural public school is retarded. Telling a coach "you either resign or I will resign you" will not bid you well. This is high school football at a rural public school. It is impossible to maintain unless you cheat and recruit. Look at Luncoln County. They have down years. Trousdale County has down years. Osteen is not coming back. The priorities should be about academics and not how a freaking football teams record looks. Get it right. Scott Blair won't win a game as interim this season. Telling a coach resign or I will resign you mid season sends up the entirely wrong message that your priorities are backwards. Your applications will be few and far between.

I do agree with you on some of your points but Lincoln Co. Has been down because they made Fayetteville city a high school.

VANDYCHRIS. Before you start calling Giles Idiots why don't you get the whole truth instead of part of the story. First, of all I'm sure you didn't here his interview on radio Friday night were he took no blame and talked about how bad the boys played. He said it was no one's fault, but the guys. He has talked about kids all year and before this happened he dogged several players and they had some talented guys to quit him. Everyone wants to talk about his two years at GCHS that he took the team to state. Those two years those guys were coached and program built under Oconner, Osteen and Beddingfield. When he was interviewed after the Marshall County game he stated he didn't have enough kids to not keep the same ones out there playing both sides of the field. That is complete BS. He had about 50 kids on that sideline. I'm not saying all are capable of being on the field, but I absolutely know he had talent on that sideline that could play either side and to give the starters a breather. He did show big favoritism and did a lot of discrimination against several players for being sick, hurt and the biggest was the young man that he wasn't given any playing time cause he was a diabetic and had to check his blood during practice. This young man very respectful and played football ever since he was old enough too. By this time of year the guys should be in shape and not having to come off the field cramping up. That just shows that their not in shape and the ones are will be at Clark's working out after practice. I listened to Walt's interview on the radio this afternoon and it was a joke. He knew his job was on the line since the season ended last year, but he give out a survey wanting to know what the problem was and stated what be wanted it to say. ThAt is were the administration should have stepped in, but they decided to hide behind the office doors. I know a lot stated why not wait til the season was over. Richland didn't have a problem dismissing Walt's brother n law two years back, Coach Busby. He came to GCHS but he was let go last year for a ungodly reason and that was a disgrace to the school and the program. I feel so bad for the seniors this year because this year was their year to shine and to go out winning for their fallen teammate. Also, their is some talented guys in this class after this season may not have the chance to show college recruits what they have to offer. I know there is a hand full of freshman parents upset over Walt being let go, but I have to say to you that you haven't been with him three years now. I for one support and back Mr. Wright and his staff on a job well done. I believe he will try his best to turn this county around. He may been the man we have needed for years. So 1610 you a relative of the player that was diabetic? I km now the player you speak of and he is a great kid but if he was on the field Giles was not gonna win a game period!! Bottom line. We will see how the next coach fairs but if you think Walt discriminated as well as his staff you are correct they discriminated in playing the kids that actually gave them a chance to win on Friday. 1610 reading your post you have no clue bout football in general and if you want to come to the boro and get on a white board I will teach you a thing or two bout the game. I would coach with or for Walt Smith any day. The super in Giles should how gutless he was in asking for a resignation midseason guess they got the yes man they want there now. Wardawg2038 What does it matter if I'm related or not, but you never discriminate against a kid who has a sickness. It has never stopped him from playing sports since he was 6 years old and no other coach had a problem with him. One kid can't win a ballgame by himself. It takes teamwork and so you just said basically the boys on the field now are not capable of winning either. I totally disagree. Some kids are out there because who they are. I never said the staff discriminated. I said Walt did. I know more about those kids and that program than you ever will.

I doubt you know as much about it as I did/do 1610. You said Walt discriminated I am telling you that is 100% a lie. If you willing to meet up and discuss it I will tell it to you face to face. Period. WOMG you a great guy and I sure hope you weren't involved in all this mess. It gives a black eye to to he Bobcat nation.
