It's the GUM.

That too.

One thing I loved about last night's game was the atmosphere and the fans.  Both sides did a great job making a lot of noise but did it the "right way".  I don't know the last time I went to a game with that many in the stands for a girls game.  Loved it.

Coach Clapp has done an amazing job with his teams on both the boys and girls side.  The score last night didn't dictate the majority of the game.  For 60 minutes, that was a back and forth match.

%100 agree.  The student sections did a great job encouraging their sides and getting hype for the great soccer moments!  I know it is difficult for high school kids to stay positive in the Page/CPA rival and they did a wonderful job last night, That makes our games so much more exciting! (I heard the only negative fans were Fairview girls that were mad at Page).

Good luck tomorrow to the visor and gum chewing Big G! I will have a nice screen saver ready for you next week

What it takes to be a state title contender is probably a little different for each state classification. In the top classifications a large number of players with club backgrounds, preferably division 1 club players. Depth is important. A special player or two is a plus. And a great coach who can think on his/her feet can help to even up some of the other unbalanced factors.

Is money a factor? Yes, only because more affluent areas tend to have more clubs and consequently, more club players. Great fields, facilities, uniforms, and riding chartered buses all are nice to have, but they have no real impact on championships.

There is another factor, though a bit less apparent- emotion. Heart, passion, desire, team unity- these also can be great equalizers.

On a side but related note. This is the first time that I can ever remember  an AAA state bracket that will not have a Williamson County team included. That is absolutely astonishing.
