Love the ending to this, let's just hope they give the young Carter a chance to shine next game:)

SMH  .... I have to say that for me... this is by far the most embarrassing loss the Vikings have suffered in my 11 years of closely following this program!!! This is followed closely by the 7 to 56 BLOWOUT to Greenville in 2010 (which would have been MUCH worse had they not called the DAWG off in the early stages of the 3rd QT), and the VERY disappointing loss to Boone in the first round of the Playoffs in 2009 (aka Our Year). It's obvious that the coaching staff as well as the Viking players took this Pioneer team lightly and suffered a beat down as a result. I hear some on here trying to blame tonight's dog stomp on the players performance. But performance is only a reflection of preparation (at this level), and preparation is a reflection of leadership (or lack there of)!!!!!!! If this was at a higher level than high school football this coaching staff would be escorted to the door solely on tonight's performance of this team!! This team is not lacking of athletes, size, speed, ability, depth......... but we are struggling to stay 500 with a schedule with virtually 3 and one half teams on it (if we're being honest). Why is that???! I have always felt like this O cordinator was only as good as his best player year after year, but I now have to question the person that allows him to make these decisions that he makes (15 before 16).?? I could go on and on.... but now that they have unleashed the YOUNG dragon, we are all left shaking our heads and wondering..... what do they have on this guy to make him play 15 over 16........ !!!!!!!!!! I just dropped the mic... :roflolk:

I don't think it matters who played tonight. We just got outplayed and they played like they would never play another game

You must not have watched the game with they changed QBs bc it most def would have changed the outcome even with the poor coaching. He threw the ball, ran the ball, and made things happen. Sometimes athletes need to realize they would make the team better by switching positions. But what do I know? If anyone saw the 4th quarter and doesn't see what's wrong they are blind.

Just think what may have happened if 16 had been in there the whole game or they would've let him start the second half. He probably had more passing yards in one quarter than 15 has had all season. I hope this opens up some eyes. The whole team stepped up in the last quarter and finally got some life in them.

I have not followed the Vikings to an away game in a couple of years. However, I felt inclined to do so on a beautiful night... custom made for football!! Have not posted in so long I forgot my password. Thus, instead of geppetto as my post name I had to create a new account. I am now geppetto2. Some of you may remember me. Looks like the mic is rolling around on the floor, so, I'm gonna pick it up and spit you a hook on my opinion. Cap could not have said it better, "players emulate

their coaches". This program has for years been a mislead, very poor fundamentals (basic blocking and tackling), undisciplined entity (personal fouls). Watching these games is worse then watching paint dry. I find it more entertaining watching the circus on the sidelines as opposed to watching the game. I noted that a few minutes into the third quarter, all coaches except the defensive coordinator and head coach threw their headphones on the bench......were they giving up or did they feel press box to field communication is insignificant. How do they see alignments, missed assignments etc.? And yes, the OC was the first to throw his to the bench.....Imagine that!! I could go on and on about this program posing as a football team. However, and as cap so gracefully put it....."I drop the mic".

I remember back in '08 it took Stubbs one game to realize he needed the younger qb in the game. Hopefully Mays wakes up from this game and puts the Soph in next week. There's just no comparison between the two.

I remember that! I was right under the press box at J. Fred and heard some TN High coaches yelling out of frustration because the QB wasn't getting it done. Then they went from 16 to 18. Good call for THS. Unfortunately 18 helped defeat the Tribe the next year.

Preach on brother!! ...Preach it !! :thumb:

I wish i could find some of my old posts from a couple years ago..but I did a search and nothing  at all turned up...oh well !! Ahhh! just saved you guys the old" I TOLD YOU SO" As some of you will remember that have been here awhile(04,CAP) I was totally against this hire from day one...nothing personal towards him for he is a fine man as most of you know...just not qualified to be a head coach at this level and i do believe this is his 1st head coaching job anywhere period that i am aware of. And someone correct me if i am wrong.

1a-2a or maybe 3a  is where you start not at 5a-6a tradition rich program that has a winning history.

That's just to much ask for any  inexperienced head coaching candidate. So not really his fault for I,m sure he's doing the best he knows how. But these kids have to suffer through his on the job training which is brutal to say the least. So no i don't blame him i blame the one's that put him in this position in the first place..they knew better but stayed with the buddy-buddy system.

I guess as long as your well liked by everyone wins don't matter at least that's the way it seems at present. i will say i played for 4 different head coaches in my life. All of them were not liked all of the time, but there is not one that i did not respect ALL of the time.

I know..I know he took us to round two of the play-offs last year...first He didn't take us anywhere..the three headed monster in the back field took us to round two. so put that to rest right now.And yes he is an outstanding defencive coach. But not head coach. He may be in the future but not right now.

But if he's gonna try to do this he needs to grow a pair and tell Bobby Sunshine's daddy to stay the ---- out of team business and do what he thinks is right whether it is or not and own it. Not what daddy moneybags thinks. There are 50-60 kids that your decision affects not just one. Just give your team there best opportunity to win at all times Flame suit on....slams the mic down!!!

Ahh well I am glad to see that some people opened their eyes and saw what happened when 16 went in and played more than 1 play at a time. He would be the sophomore that is being complained about because 15 is a junior his parents believe he should play in front of him even though this evening showed everyone that the younger guy is a much better QB all around. Like I said money and politics have a lot to do with it. And every time 16 gets to play a little the administration gets called. It's simply a joke these coaches let the parents tell them who to play. They don't have anything over on the OC but I do know again for an absolute fact that he doesn't pick who plays QB, Mays does. But I am proud of the way they played in the 4th quarter and some may not like my opinion but if 16 had been in the entire game we would have won. The defense played better. Running different plays got them fired up. I guarantee another quarter or two and they could have came back from the 14 point deficit. Hopefully they will see they need to prepare for every team equally from now on.

If that's the case than I have to say that my frustrations from day one have been misguided. And for that I owe the Viking O Coordinator an apology. I only know of one man that was able to turn water into wine, so coach Proffitt was set up to fail form the very beginning if in fact Mays MADE him start 15. SMH I should have known.... and again I apologize. Starting (and sticking with) 16 will give him many more options for this team to succeed! One can only hope that Mays can feel the noose he has put around his neck and stays the course of the fourth quarter of this game. If I could just pick the mic up and say... WIN GAMES Coach... the money will follow!! If this kid's parents really care about his future they would refrain from pushing their influence to pave a way for him in which they know is impossible for him to succeed past the extent of their M O N E Y. Case and point... I have had two sons that have been very successful and accomplished athletes. So I fully expected my baby girl to follow suit. After her first year at attempting to play competitive sports... she came to me and said, and I quote "daddy I don't want to play basketball.... I want to be a cheerleader"! So that's what she did and that's what we do now. And I'm as proud of her and what she does and has accomplished as I have ever been of the boys!!! Plus I still get to go to the games!! B)

Yes it's a very bad situation with the parents of 15- complaining and asking for "meetings with Mays" after any game 16 gets playing time, the dad being at EVERY practice and up in their business, and paying a private QB coach for their child who may be a great kid I don't like to down any player but he isn't the best to win games and get the job done. Idk what they may have over mays but if 16 doesn't at least get a chance to start next week then yeah there is something going on with that. But coach profitt is not to blame, and yet he gets the blame bc people think he's actually getting to do his job. I even tried asking him something about it and being a professional he wouldn't say a word. Just that he wasn't allowed to discuss. I have never seen a school care so much about parents and who has the money to donate. I agree with you as well, let your children do what makes them happy!! My child has never been forced into playing anything either. What's the point? I played ball with Courtney McDaniel and she started from time she was a freshman and WE as players expected it! We wanted to win games more than we cared about our own stats. SMH all I can say is the parents of any of them need to let the coaches do their jobs!!!

If I may, I don't think this is so much on Coach Mays I think the players just walked in expecting to beat Crockett no problem and instead got their butt kicked by a team that was essentially playing a playoff game. There are problems but i'm keeping the faith for now. I know he's not a bad coach like he's getting put on here.
