D2Wrestling
Chalifoux takes 3rd And in convincing fashion! Hated to see how he was relegated to the consolations but you always love to see a kid battle back after a loss. Tennessee wrestling has been lucky to have him represent the state so well these past years, West Point is getting a good one!

slipperypeat
No mention of team scores? Baylor 9th place (Top 10 for the 2nd staight year) Father Ryan - 19th McCallie- 20th Christian Bros- 100th Congrats to Baylor for representing the state of TN so well when they go out of state. Hopefully, if TN can get another team in the top 10 every year we can earn another qualifying spot. It is evident based on the results that more than just our state champ can compete. D2Wrestling
Congratulations are definitely in order for Baylor. Wish Father Ryan had brought more kids down, between King and the two Simpsons I think TN could easily have had two Top 10s. A note about three wrestlers: it was especially satisfying to see Powell wrestle all the way back from a first round loss to snag 5th; that's all heart (and probably some technique). Duhm ended his fantastic season on a high note, and 12th seed River Henry (4th) has to enter next year as the HWT favorite.

You are aware that TN is allowed to enter more than state champs into the tournament right. Off of the top of my head I can think of two wrestlers we sent this year who were not state champions... one was not even a finalist (and he was a placer at national preps so good indication of the depth in that weight in TN). No, I am not aware of that. Are you sure that is the rule? I am aware that TN entered more than one in a couple weights. I mentioned in my post that is was evident that more than just our champ can compete. It is my understanding that TN only has 1 qualifier. I was told the extra guys received at-large bids. I do not know the details of how that works. I suspect that the prep committee will reward TN with another automatic spot if we are able to get more kids on the podium and more teams in the top 10. From the PrepNationals website: Thursday Registration Schedule (Num qualifiers) 5:30 Texas/NC/TN (3,1,1) 5:45 Maryland (6) 6:00 NJ/NY/DC (3,1,1) 6:15 NE (6) 6:45 Va (4) 7:00 Pa (6)
