westtnsportsfan
What are the thoughts on this one. I don't think GC will overlook riverside this year like I feel they somewhat did last year. Riverside better or worse than last year?
cpcoach1
Give it to Coach Courtney...She lost a lot of talent off of last year's team, and has still fought back to substate again. Obviously losing those seniors hurt, but they can still put up points, and also have one of the best players in West TN in La'sha Scott. They have good perimeter shooters, and are very disciplined on the offensive end. They throw a lot of different looks on defense as well. The knocks on them are they're not very deep (7 at most), and not very big (Goff maybe 5'8 and Scott 5'9). That said, I think Gibson wins by 15...White, Lannom, and Fields are too much, and also factor in the home court advantage as well. BABABA
Book Your hotels like I said. GC wins this one big! Easiest game GC has had in a while, Riverside No where close to Dresden, Peabody or Bradford. Draw at state will be critical for GC.
pioneer42
Riverside has still got some players. They need to shut 42 down, Scott and they will have a good chance. Draw at state is always crucial. Edited March 3, 2016 by pioneer42
dmm88
I think Gibson County rolls in this one. They had this game circled for a entire calendar year and they really want to avenge the loss. I also agree on the state draw. Hope they get a favorable first-round matchup
tradertwo
Better or worse than last year isn't the question...Gibson County is (and was last year too) better than Riverside, but last year Riverside played a much more physical game than this year. Riverside isn't bad, just won't give GC problems with their style this time around...and as someone already stated, the Lady Pioneers should have a grudge to settle...lose to Riverside now and there's no excuse. If GC is going to live up to their potential of a top four or five team with Middleton, Pickett Co., and maybe a couple others in the mix, they should handle the Lady Panthers without much trouble. Riverside had all that they could handle with Scotts Hill (mediocre from youth), and was waxed by Middleton in their last two games...Gibson Co. was very good three years ago but young, last year good enough to compete with the best 1A teams in state but "stumbled" at home in sectionals...the future is now to get over the hump and contend for the gold ball. pioneer42
I am sure Riverside will play slow slow like last year and hope GC gets in foul trouble and turns the ball over like last year. GC protects the ball and don't get in foul trouble they should be fine. But Riverside will be confident since they were there last year. So you never know. How many times would Dyersburg have beaten South Side probably 1 out of 10. But they beat them in the region this year. westtnsportsfan
I'm going with GC by 14....52-38. Get some revenge and make a trip to the glass house.
burnalittle
I'm going with GC by 14....52-38. Get some revenge and make a trip to the glass house. They make it to the glass house, but hope that they don't draw Middleton. Also, hope someone else knocks off Middleton because I think Middleton beats GC easily. pioneer42
Like I said I hope for West TN's sake they don't draw each other first round. But I will assure that GC is not scared of nobody and yes that includes Middleton.
pioneer42
The Scott kid for Decatur County is a player. Still a pretty good team. Gives Middleton a little more love. GC beat them by 17, but they still had some talent and was a pretty good team. They played hard.
