2016
Looks like game is called off. Hear that Moore County Director of Schools was there and refused to re-schedule game and took a forfeit, then ran to his car as fast as could before the mob could catch him. Bet his ears are burning. blue5
Not a forfeit. Both parties agreed to end the game at 7 to 0. Both teams healthy heading into district play next week. Forrest wishes coach Dobbs and Moore Co good luck the rest of the way.
GeneralForrest
I heard Moore Co didn't even have an offensive possession. They mustve seen the writing on the wall. Glad everyone was ok.
TheAmbassador
Moore County didn't get an offensive possession and took a loss?
GeneralForrest
that's what I was told. Forrest scored on a handful of plays on the opening drive, then lightning delay. after a lot of waiting, Forrest kids came out and said game over, both coaches agreed. 7-0 final. I was also told the Forrest offense vs the Moore Co defense resembled a Toro Timecutter going thru a field of weeds.
workinprogress
Paper says Moore county coach did not know he could refuse 7-0 score. Rule says if both coaches do not agree with a date to finish it is a no contest. Moore county might try to fight the loss and both teams could have a no contest. 2016
I think everyone got a bad deal. The players for both teams were short changed on this one. The reason for practice and all the conditioning, weight lifting is to play the game. The fans turned out to see a game. Some will say they didn't play was to avoid injuries. If that's the case why even play at all. Price of admission was to see a football game not to let some moron make a selfish decision not to play on Saturday like other teams did. GeneralForrest
Moore Co coach looks awful for "not knowing" the rule. Lame excuse. I'm not saying I wouldn't be upset if I were a fan on the Moore Co side. But either go back to Chapel Hill Saturday or don't. Forrest played at Moore Co the last 2 years. The rule says what WIP stated, but it also says if both sides agree to the score as is that's the final. The Moore Co coach agreed and is now saying he didn't know the rule. It just looks ridiculous. GeneralForrest
Also the author of the column is coming off more then a little preachy here. "More than likely" to use his language, the final would have been in the 70-0 range. I was told Moore Co looked like a middle school team. workinprogress
He's a new coach and probably was not explained his options.
GeneralForrest
I do get it. I'm not saying it's not an understandable mistake. But dude read the rule book if you're gonna do this thing. Now he looks worse.
