Yes same ole coach t. I had to go back a few pages to see what all of this was about. Looks like a question was asked of Prince and the peanut gallery jumps in. A bunch of adults running there mouths about kids on a message board. Do you not have anything better to do? I have been to all of the 7A gyms you talk about and I do not think Clay would be the best team in 8AA this year either. Yes they beat MC 2/3 times and lost to LA and that is all you have to go on this year. Tyreke is a heck of a talent without a doubt. How many others on the Clay team are averaging double figures on the season? Yes Tyreke and Josh played against each other one time. Chris Hooper tournament at Upperman summer of 2016.

Only people related to Endicott try and compare the two players.  No one has said one negative thing on here about any child that plays the game so don't try and insinuate anyone has.  Key is the best player in this area on the men's side Levy on the women's side.  Everything you've stated about if Clay would be the best team is merely your opinion nothing more.  Clay's team is above average without Key but with him it puts them as the best in my opinion.  The statement was made teams out of 7A couldn't compete against 8AA when in fact they not only compete they have a winning record against them if you take it back over a 10 year period.  On the other side of the bracket the teams out of 8AA would have a losing record on the girls side and some couldn't even begin to come within 50 points of the Jackson County and Clarkrange teams from 2000-2015.  The only team in 8AA that would step up and compete against these two teams is LA and they gave as good as they got most years. The rest wouldn't even sign up to play them,  outside of Upperman depending on how good their teams were they would drop them or add them. ALL FACTS!  Now go ahead and speculate all you want my work is done here.

If I am not mistaken Sparta has been the Best Upper Cumberland Team the past 4 or 5 years & I don't watch Girls Basketball. Especially Single A Girls. Sure their is some good girls that play in Single A, but I just prefer a faster game. That being said Upperman has a Girl that can GO

Just wanted to clarify a small side note here. Actually, two side notes. #1 Pickett county girls play as fast a game as anyone in the state and if my math is correct average more points per game than any boys team in the area just about.

Secondly, white county wasn't the best team in the area last year. Pickett beat them double digits a year ago and Sparta found a good excuse to cancel the game at Pickett to avoid the stomping they were gonna receive. Also, let it be known that Pickett isn't on white county's schedule this year for a reason.

Other than that, Carry on pretending that clay couldn't win 8AA this year by all means...

I really don't watch Girls hoops very often, although I have seen Byrdstown play & they are not the fastest team in the state, seriously Clarkrange is terribly slow. Fulton is much faster, Oak Ridge is Much Faster, Mufeesboro Much Faster, etc, etc. Some teams will let you play fast for obvious reasons such as bad early shots but others will defend and slow you down by pushing set shooters off their spots and defending the ball. Anyone can beat anyone on a given night but the reason they have classifications such as A,2A,3A,4A,5A,6A etc,etc is simple, to keep it competitive & fair. Most times that is the Reality of all Sports, yes anyone can beat anyone on a given game, but usually not

If people didn't talk about kids and their teams then what's the point of the forums on CoachT? It is about high school sports right?

Macon County 16-0 vs 8AA and 1-3 vs two good single A teams and other team they lost to CC beat by 25+ both games. Enough said if Clay would be the favorite to win 8AA.

Well again I do not agree. Clay loses to the 4th place team in 8AA and the 3rd place team in 7A that's 4-4 in the district and 11-17 overall. Don't get me wrong Clay is a very good team but they play a somewhat week schedule. Wallace Rose Hill 14-9 with 4 wins outside of their district. West Hall GA 8-18. They did play C D Owen from NC a AA team that is 21-5 and lost by 4 to them. So against arguably the top two teams they played their 2-2.

Yes they beat Van Buren who beat Macon. Macon beat Jackson county by 12 and 17. So who beat who really carries no weight. Like has been said it's all about matchups. From here I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I wish Clay the best of luck moving forward.

You keep dodging the question. What did Macon do vs Clay?

So against arguably the top two teams they played their 2-2. Which includes 2 out of 3 against MACON COUNTY!!! I know your slow so hopefully this helps. If you need more clarification just let me know the next time you see me. I saw you at a few early season games at Upperman just let me know.

How many games did 8AA's girls district champion win against the top 2 teams in 7A? I see a lot of people at games what's your name that way I won't miss you the next time I run into you and we can discuss it. I don't try to hide my name on a website like like most people. Maybe I should seems people take things as life and death these days when it comes to sports.

In the last 2 years Clay County is 6-3 vs TN AA teams and 3-0 vs AAA teams they have faced. Yes obviously they couldn't compete with Oak ridge or Memphis East caliber teams but that record alone makes your whole post invalid.

Clay County lost to LA in the very first game and LA shot 65-70% from the 3 which hasn't happen since. If CC and LA played now Clay would blow them out both games. The one x-factor is that NOONE in 8AA can guard Key hence the 49 (36 in 2nd half) and 42 in their wins vs MC.

He would average the same amount of points even if he was in 8AA without question. In his 4 games vs 8AA teams he had 49/43/42/21. Three of those games were against your season and tourney champion that went 16-0. I guarantee MC is glad Clay isn't in 8AA the past two years.

When calling someone slow you should really know the difference in their, they're, there and you, your, you're. Just saying.

    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
