You are saying that he may have told his younger players, "sorry guys we don't have room for you on this trip, you will be staying home for this one"  That would be about the dumbest thing a coach could possibly do, especially if he wants any of them to come back out for the team next year.  That's like saying, "Hey boys, thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears and for playing scout team all year, but this is a playoff game and we don't need you guys cause you can't help us anyway"  c'mon man! That's ridiculous.  Everyone of those kids that got left home would go play for Murvil, ha ha.

Kind of a darned if you do darned if you don't... I don't know if he did or did not, but everyone including me thiks it is crazy to send schools with a 1-9  or 2-8 record across the state to play a 10-0 just for the sake of playing. This trip has to cost upwards of 4-5k and for what benefit to the school? So you can loose money and possibly get whooped pretty handily?  I am simply looking at it like a lot of schools and school board members probably are. Can we save money anywhere and still get our team there and back safely.

Is this one of the minivans?  I'm thinking there may be more to this sitchee-ation than just trying to save money.

It had nothing to do with saving money....the GovClub takes care of all funding issues.  My comment said "they are taking the ones that wanted to go"....no one is being left behind that wanted to go.

Makes me wonder how many coaches may miss the trip because they don't want to go either. Odd situation but times are changing. I'd like to see the LA boys play their rears off. Edited by strongx

Seems crazy to me that players that worked out all winter, and practiced in the heat since July,  just decided it is not important enough to them to even want to go.  Even if you're not going to play, you go and support your teammates.   Just hard for me to believe that there's guys on a high school football team that "just don't wanna go". I think there's more to it.

I would want to just to get out of school early.

    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
    • This whole situation is bonkers. You don’t just kick your star player off the team just because you heard them say the F word; the coach definitely had something against the player, or somebody definitely did. Also, nobody has brought up the idea that the school blackmailed the college to get the college to withdraw the scholarship offer, not to mention that the coach who kicked her off is no longer even with the program; they were fired. I think this is a pretty easy lawsuit. I don’t know if she should deserve that much money, but I think she should get enough money for a full-ride scholarship if she cannot get one after this situation.
    • Oh yeah, I’m sure you are different people just always on the same thread for some reason, always agreeing with each other, perhaps just a bunch of dorks who would like to ###### and moan about high school football coaches do a lot of other students, so you make a football team and get a yell at them. When they do something wrong, but I’m sure you don’t like that, do you?   and I’m sure I’m aware of where you get information. A teacher who was on the coaching staff but was fired after the new coaching and staff came in and realized he actually had to start taking his assistant job a little bit more seriously than just wanting to make a little extra cash on the side, hardly even showing up to most practices, should’ve left with his buddy to go to Farragut. I’m sure he could get him a defensive coaching job, but I doubt he will be there in three years. Looking at the way Farragut is currently going.
    • It may be hard to believe but there’s more people than me that think you guys are a bunch of losers.    I’m sure the coaching staff, yourself included, cursed at a bunch of high school students. Nobody could name more than 3 coaches on staff due to the constant turnover.
