I was fortunate to get to go to church this morning. Went with an old friend from Oak Ridge. We got to talking again about football of course and the subject of Clinton came up again. Anyway long story short he said he knew for a fact there is a short list they are "considering", there is a short list of "just in case others don't work out" and a short list of "these are our targets". He said they have received interest from around the area but only a couple of them are former players or have a tie to Clinton. That's not counting anyone currently on staff or Herrell. He also said he was told they "want someone not too young, not too old and has ties to Clinton. So there is a handful that has shown interest...and of them a couple have Clinton ties...but who are they? That he DIDNT know. I have nothing to do with you guys personally but as I've said I just love High School football. I do wonder who that is out there though?

Randy McKamey is the first person that comes to mind when I read this. But I thought Randy was comfortable over at Grace? We'll just have to wait and see. The suspense is killing me! 😀

The position has not even been posted yet, so any names are pure speculation. There have been a number of applications received, but no selection committee has even been chosen yet. There is a lot of hope or speculation or interest or whatever, but decisions are still very much in the preliminary stages. I am willing to let the process run its course.

Just because it hasn't been posted yet, doesn't mean they don't already know who they want does it?

I was informed today that they have reached out to Herrell and Mckamey. Both are entertaining the idea however we have already heard what the issue would be with both. $$. I'm told Mckamey is pretty well off and really doesn't need it but why leave Grace? You are able to offer tuition assistance now and this is now their chance to legally build a team from all the Karns, Powell and HV players and get get a championship. If he goes it would have to be an ego thing...thinking he can fix it quickly. I don't know...I'm just praising the Lord I've been healthy this week. Clinton needs a former player like Anderson Co has to take over . If not Herrell or Mckamey...surely there is another former Dragon somewhere coaching. But in the end...it'll probably be someone nobody expected.

They better hire the best person for the job and not worry about if he's from Clinton.

Larry I really enjoy your post because you seem to be running with the right crowd and your observation seems to be pretty good. I watched GCA play this year quiet a bit and my advise to McKamey if he has an option to stay at GCA or go to Clinton is to stay where he is at. If you now have the ability to give tuition assistance that could open new doors he has never had. The difference between those two schools fan base is that anyone that disagrees with the coach in the stands at GCA will keep it to their self and the fan at Clinton is going to yell what's on his mind for the coach and the team to hear it.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
