It is ridiculous to say UC hasnt ever been stopped, and I've heard that on this thread numerous times. Why isn't it a fair accesment to say Dresden stopped them?  You got 2 chances at them last year with the same results.  They held you to 7, and 14 points.  Its not a fluke when it happened twice.  They scored at will, and stopped UC period.  Big Swo you say Offense was on the sidelines? How so if Dresden scored near 50 thats 7tds did they not have to kick back off to UC giving them the same amount of chances?  Players play both ways so Defense on sidelines to?  That makes zero sense if your stars play both ways how can you say they was on sidelines?  How can you say both offense and defense Was on the sidelines?  Who was on the field for UC the chess club?  Is it hard to stop UC yes, but have they, and can they be stopped absolutely.  Can Mayfield do it I have no clue.  Any team can be stopped i know of a record setting team that was undefeated, that rushed for 6200 yards that season that got beat by 50 late in the playoffs.  Doesn't matter how much you can move the ball if you fumble, and fail to hit pay dirt.

We did have a lot on the sidelines the whole year with season ending injuries. Starting senior qb / do out- torn acl. Starting senior rb/de out -torn acl. Another senior db out - torn acl, starting senior ol/dl out - torn meniscus. Senior fb/de played literally with one arm due to shoulder and pec injury.  A lot of younger players grew up and got tough last year.  We don't have the illustrious successful history of mayfield, but we have done pretty well recently, and I would stack our recent record and success against anyone, including mayfield's. Great time for both teams to be facing each other and a lot of interest from both communities and states will be focused on the game. Y'all will be good. As long as we compete, play physical and limit fumbles, we' be tough to beat.

If the cardinals don't like getting punched in the mouth, and are as weak as you are implying, then I'd say UC is a bad matchup for them.  UC definitely is physical, and if Mayfield doesn't like to play physical I'd say UC will run it at will, but I'm not sure I'm buying that.  Hard to believe a team with their credentials isn't use to playing teams thats physical.  Sounds like some sandbagging by some of the Mayfield followers if they are telling you that.  Either that or Mayfield has benefited from playing the sisters of the poor to get all their titles, which is doubtful.

Ok well you raise some good points BUT my friend you fail to realize what we like to do and that is play physically no huddles and score fast. There is no sandbagging by me we play physical very physical. Do I think uc will run at will all night NO, do I think they will be able to throw the ball well from a team that doesn't do it much like I said it will be a VERY TOUGH TASK, do I think mayfield can be stopped or beat YES it has not happen very many times since 09 but YES, Do I think union city can do it YES but they will have to play as hard as they can from first snap to the last whistle. Cards play with a never quit attitude from start to finish winning or losing from jv to varsity they play every game like they are playing for the championship all they know is to win and most of our players play both ways also. They can hurt you in the air on the ground and even on the returns our defense can and will cause fumbles and are fast enough to pick it up and run it back for a score so bottom line the CARDS are always ready for a battle are they perfect NO but will find a way to win so no sandbagging and I'm for sure not underestimating the tornados but I do BELIEVE IN THEM CARDS

If you read what I said about the mouth punching you will see that I was simply repeating what your followers have said to me.  I don't know if Mayfield can take a punch or not.  There is so much intrest in this game that everyone is talking about it.  We have our own weaknesses and believe it or not so does the Cards.  As far as no huddle,  that's how we run the Veer. Up quick and back to the line for another round.  We are ready for it.

I love this match up two similar small town schools with two great coaching staffs and let's no forget the AWESOME fan base. This is what high school football is about the love for the game not the money or endorsements.

After seeing some recent rankings.  Union City picked the perfect time to get Mayfield.  Mayfield has been ranked #1, or #2 every year for close to a decade it seems.  The new rankings on a certain Kentucky site has Mayfield at 5th in 2a.  Union City seems to be #1 by the sources I've seen on here.  We all know Tennessee is stronger, I would take the best few teams every year from TN over the best few from kentucky in the same class, so I have a hard time believing the 5th ranked 2a team in kentucky can go on the road to the number 1 2a team in Tennessee, and keep it close.  If Mayfield was #1, and UC #5 I'd say it was about even.  Since its not some random website, but 1 made up of kentucky experts on their teams, I have to think they would know their teams, and they don't believe this is as strong of a Mayfield team as the ones of late. With this new info I think Union City in a rout.  I'll say 45-10 Union City, with Mayfield lone TD coming late against UC jv.  I'll say it's 45-3 early in the 4th when UC starts letting up, and subbing.

If the final is 45-10 UC, we UC fans will be as equally shocked as the Mayfield fans.

Right now on unapproved website, Mayfield is favored by 7 on a neutral field. If you read on that website that you are referring too, the consensus is that class 2A is the strongest class in the state.

I also know you are here just to stir the pot.

I  say Mayfield will win this game by a couple of scores.... no pot stirring either.

    • Im more of a Basketball follower than football and like I said we play what we have, there is no going and recruiting or even talking kids into transferring…..and to rebut about Memphis teams in finals I’ve watched Memphis East and Penny Hardaway with the enrollment of a single A team play up and dominate any and all challengers for years! They aren’t the only ones either Mike Miller and son at Germantown put together that super team a couple years ago that ran through the rest of the state! Other teams from Memphis or Chatt or Nash or any large populated area pop up and are relevant out of nowhere every year because they get an influx of talent be it from a new coach or AAU affiliations it happens in football also just like any other sport! I hope these two schools that close join together and get to play the team you support, then you may see it differently! I find it funny some of you think recruiting and resources don’t matter . The county schools get very little funding also but you don’t want to get me started on that part!
    • In a total classless move, Coach Simmons once again shows his true colors. Waits till the day after school is out to let everyone know he is leaving. Fails up to a community college job after a lackluster 2 year span at GH. And do not tell me about the state run that saved a sub .500 season and plenty of whippings by Cookeville and Lebanon.  Looks like the girls job at GH is cursed. Terrible MS program/coaches feeding what is turning out to be a joke of a HS team.
