Never called anybody stupid, that's not my game. Never have and never will.  Not trying to solve any problems either.   I simply said "I" am in favor of a huddle for general football conversation sake.  Obviously,  If huddle or not to huddle was our biggest problem than we would be playing much better than we are and wouldn't have just got shutout 41-0 by one of our biggest rivals.

Oak Ridge has a vanilla offense with no wrinkles in it. Very little passing. A lot of the run plays are pretty straight forward and require no thought process on the defenses part. Oak Ridge's line is not blocking very well which has been a part of their success in previous years.

Even when Oak Ridge passes they are pretty standard pass plays nothing to force the DBs to make mistakes just sit in their zone or play man coverage.

Make the offense more up tempo, and spread, Do zone and stretch concepts, get some RPOs in the offense. Allow the QB to make reads and have the option to pull it when the DL collapses down hard on the Running Back. Get some screens in the offense to open up vertical passing lanes.

We don't need to scrap what we're doing and we don't need to add a bunch of new stuff.  What we do need to do is execute better on both sides of the ball, keep working at it and try to improve each week.

I also never use the word stupid. My ideas, which were requested, are more to change the psychology of the team.

UP TEMPO                                      The coaches know more about football and this football team than I ever will.

Obviously you need to execute that's a given. I want a successful Oak Ridge team, too. I think the offense is something out of the 80s and 90s and teams of equal or better caliber will continue to beat Oak Ridge by outscoring them with superior offensive attacks even if Oak Ridge executes properly on both sides of the ball.

Changing your offense mid-season is a disaster. I would advocate for changing it in the spring and obviously focusing a lot of attention on Lineman play on both sides of the ball.

I'll bet we threw 30 times against Farragut (not sure since I never saw the stats) and that didn't help much. It looks to me like we run some option and some of our best plays have been screens. Not sure I've seen any RPOs. I think our problem is not running the ball well enough to supplement our passing game. Whatever the case is (I'm not saying you're wrong), I sure hope we improve by Friday.

It's just hard to be successful at this level of football unless you can both run and pass. I'm hoping for a huge improvement Friday night.

Fake news everybody go 2 the Maryville football thread and the Maryville vs Oakland thread and count how many times "this fake" called COMPTON stupid. At least be authentic.

Except for you Compton.  I don't call  players or coaches stupid.  As for you Compton, your posts speak for themselves.  You are what you are, and every time you post, you remind us and prove it all over again.  You are a Genius!   Troll on.

What worries me about Friday night is the West defense. Did you watch them play on TV earlier in the year? They raved about the nose tackle and I didn't even think he was their best player on defense...and he was great. It's going to be hard to show improvement against that defense. This is where I fault Gaddis for the schedule (I know everyone is tired of hearing that). We HAVE TO play West but we didn't have to play DB and Farragut 2 of the 3 weeks before West!

I watched West against Halls last week, and while West's defense was good, Halls had some success against them. A lot more than I expected. They even had a shot to send the game to OT, but came up just short at the end of regulation.

I didn't know that so thank you...I'm glad to hear it! I just hope we play a real good game!

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
