D2Wrestling
Incredible match! Reineche wrestled to the whistle and was (rightly) rewarded. Holy cow...and on the other side of the bracket we have Ethan D just tearing it up. Can you imagine a TN state finals rematch in the finals of National Preps?! Pretty sure we just saw one between Elkin and Eason in the round to place as well!

Gabriel Elkin - MBA - 120 - consi's - will place top 8 Raymond Eason - Father Ryan - 126 - consi's - will place top 8 (eliminated Michael Elkin in round to palce) Brock Herring - McCallie - 132 - consi's - will place top 8 Trevor Brown - CBHS - 138 - consi's - will place top 8 Bryce Wittman - MBA - 145 - consi's - will place top 8 Mason Reiniche - Baylor - 152 - champ semi's - will place top 6 Ethan Dendy - McCallie - 152 - champ semi's - will place top 6 Khamari Whimper - Baylor - 170 - champ semi's - will place top 6 River Henry - McCallie - 285 - champ semi's - will place top 6 As I type this Judah Duhm and George Hooker still need to wrestle their round to place matches. facenthecrowd
Congrats to all of the wrestlers who chose to participate in this great tournament. They are showing that Tennessee wrestling is good and making a mark on the national level.
marathon
Garrett House: Where were King, Simpson, and Wesnoski? I would of thought King would of gone deep into the bracket as well as Simpson. Why didn't Tommy Brackett not get a wild card?
marathon
Excellent wrestling by the Tennessee kids!

I would of thought King would of gone deep into the bracket as well as Simpson. Why didn't Tommy Brackett not get a wild card? King announced he was finished following his fourth state title; that was his ultimate goal, and I think he finished out on his own terms. I'm not sure Simpson has ever wrestled in the offseason during HS. Didn't hear if Brackett applied for a wild card, I believe only Brown made the trip from Memphis

Marathon, I think the answers on Simpson and King above were pretty spot on but I don't know on those kids myself. Regarding Brackett, the simple answer is he didn't apply to enter the tournament. CBHS really doesn't make a big deal out of prep nationals like some of the other DII schools and Tommy in particular is I am sure ready to focus on Greco. He is done wrestling completely?
cbg
so what's Eli's plans? He is done wrestling completely? Eli King made the decision that he wanted to focus on academics in college and like his father and grandfather become a dentist. With all the new healthcare regulations for physicians many bright young people are electing to go the route of dental school due to the profession having less government regulations than traditional medicine so admittance to dental school has become even more competitive than ever before. It would be very difficult to wrestle at a high NCAA D1 level and still make the necessary grades for dental school admittance. I can assure everyone that most every major D1 wrestling program inquired about Eli King and was interested in having him in their program.
