I may have over-stepped my knowledge base on the district tourney....I was under the impression it was single elim, mainly because we only have two more weeks to get district, region AND the sub-state game in before state tourney 5/23-26.

 

I'd say the over/under on runs in a Hunter W v Hunter R dist final might be 4. They can both actually pitch. There are a lot of kids that can throw hard, but can't really keep their heads and pitch when it counts. I'd like to see them both get a chance at some of the better teams that will be in Murfreesboro.

Hunter threw 53 pitches Monday with 40 of them strikes.....pretty darn good if you ask me!

You're too kind....thank you. I'm just an old rusty baseball junkie dad enjoying my son finally getting his hacks after sitting behind a SR his frosh year last year. There are many on here that I enjoy reading their posts. I'm a little jealous of Ladykee.....she knows her stuff! I love my wife of 25 yrs....don't deserve her one bit, but she doesn't know a TD from a HBP, and she can't stand to watch when E's hitting.....on one hand, that's kind of cute, but it doesn't make for very good conversation....lol!

 

I'd love to meet any of you this next week. I may not make it back in town from work on Friday. I'm trying to get two week's travels packing into this week, so I don't miss anything next week. If y'all make it to Monday, I'll be the "other big guy" by the grill....the Grill Master has me by 50lbs or so.... Come say "hello!"

Thanks for the compliment! I grew up on softball/baseball field literally since birth. I should know something about it, lol! Your wife gets to just enjoy it instead of analyzing everything like I do.

Thanks for confirmation. They say 75% strikes is what you shoot for.

Looks like double elimination for district tourney. Depending on weather, could be up to 3 games Saturday, or maybe get something in Friday. All teams have to win AT LEAST 3 games to win the tournament. Champ game currently scheduled for Wed, but who knows with the forecast?    I am really surprised given the short amount of time until state tourney AND the new pitching rules. May the teams with the deepest pitching staffs win! Right now, it looks like Mother Nature is winning.....

Unless you're superstitious, I'd make hotel reservations now. They get hard to come by very quickly....AND more expensive.

 

I can't hardly believe Greenback has never been to state in baseball. I figured "back in the day" ole ORNGNBLK and his buddies probably got there with the athletes they had. It is an absolute blast to watch great competition. Mine was just a greenie last yr, so he only got to pinch run, but it still sent cold chills up my neck when he went out there and scored for the first time. Meigs got there last year and made a good showing, so, I hope you guys can join us this year (being optimistic....there is MUCH WORK to do, obviously.) They'll put us in oppo brackets being in the same district, so we'd play in different locations until the final at MTSU's stadium....either Riverdale: awesome facility/food, fairly short LF, not as short as yours, but wind usually blows out. Y'all would hit some serious bombs like we did last year. I never got to see Middle TN Christian, but you can bet it is nice also.....kinda like Mecca, right ORNG?

Why aren't these games being played today? GB played MS tournament today at GB and schools are playing all around us? Do any of these high schools have graduation next Friday? I know GB does. Surely none of these kids from any team that advances be required to miss their HS graduation because of inability to schedule and play baseball games around the weather. Why weren't games started this morning? Seems like there is no sense of urgency. Maybe there are reasons unknown but goodness!!!

Is it possible to finish tourney on Thursday if the if necessary game is needed in championship? It would require 3 games scheduled on Thursday. If not, then could they skip Friday or will teams affected have to choose between baseball and their graduation? I wouldn't want or expect any players from any school to have to do that.

TSSAA requires districts to be finished by May 12....that's Friday.

Well this tournament needs wrapped up Thursday no matter what. Planners need a little more sense of urgency!
