So far, I'd say everyone would agree that Greenback is head and shoulders above anyone around in A baseball. GCA completely blew 2 one-run ballgames in district to inferior teams early. I said early on we were very young, and we'd need to improve as the year goes on to have a shot to repeat our success. What couldn't be anticipated is, we've been completely decimated in our rotation with four injuries to solid starters. Plus, we lost the top 3 pitchers from last yr to grad. Most teams would have no shot with that IR. BUT.....we are getting better now that the young lineup is pretty much set, and the young arms are getting experience. We have a couple of bulldogs in the SR class to lead us on the mound. We will be ready for a good fight with Greenback when the time comes. In the meantime, we cannot look past anyone between now and then. We must win them all to have a shot. Good luck to all this week getting games in. we have Alcoa Friday and Meigs county next week. Then the following week we play gca. Should be some good ball games.

Meigs will pose no issues for GB this time around. They are down a bit this year also. Still a good team, but not a powerhouse.

Decent, but no shut-down guy. Their best guy is young. We left a ton of runners on base, but give him credit....he won the war. They're typical Meigs, good, hard-nosed, players that won't quit until the final out. You'll win by large margin.....just my guess based on scores I've seen.

Obviously Greenback is a freight train that may not be stopped. Anyone who follows baseball closely in Decatur knows that. Hopefully we can wake our bats up and have a few things go our way, so that we can compete with an outstanding team. Gotta love single A baseball!!

All apologies to the Meigs boys! WOW! I'd say you got the bats going. I thought G'back had a deep pitching staff. Congratulations on the split with Greenback. That's why we play the games for sure.

 

Please don't be offended. There is no personal bias meant in my previous prediction whatsoever. As a matter of fact, if anything, we are very pleased you took one from Greenback. It opens the door slightly for us, if we can come alive with the bats and pitch and play defense like we are capable. We will still have to sweep a really good baseball team.

 

Back to my comments, based on what I had seen to date, I don't think what I said was out of line. Neither of our teams is as good as we were last year to make it to Murfreesboro, but we could be by the time it matters. Looks like you guys could be as well.

 

Keep it up.....it's shaping up to be one heck of a district tourney!

No worries. I apologize if I sounded offended. Based on scores, I don't think anyone would've expected us to steal a game from GB.

 

We finally brought our bats around. It's amazing how a few hits can give a team some life. I hope we can remain consistent at the plate. It'd be nice to get hot right before the tournament.

 

Don't underestimate GB's pitching staff based on Tuesday's score. Despite the rough outing, the Willis boy is still a great pitcher. Anyone who's ever pitched knows that sometimes things just don't go our way. He's a strong senior leader, and good things are gonna happen for him.
