..and get back with ole Booger on that hole top D1 programs dodgin D2-AAA nest week after Baylors next week match-up

absent the loss and good yappin from the ankle bitin ND haters; it will hopefully prove to b a good night for the Irish

Booger just sayin :D

Booger, if your getting a little animosity its probably because of your non-stop posts over the last few years. Constantly posting non-sense and whining about the Baylors and McCallies of the world and how ya'll were just as good. I clearly remember you posting several times complaining about kids getting picked for all star teams in the local papers from the private schools and how they didn't deserve it and your kids did. You called them "media darlings" and among other things. The ironic thing is Notre Dame has recruited just as much but weren't supposed to. I wont name any kids names on here but I know of a lot of kids who ended up at Notre Dame that tried to get financial aide at the schools that could legally give it and they could afford the $3,000-$6.000 dollars It was going to cost them after financial aide but somehow ended up at Notre Dame who couldn't give financial aide, lol ???   We all know how it was done with "catholic money, parents working the gate, etc".  So now you are in the private school division where you should have been all along. As far as Baylor scheduling Tyner, Brainerd, Howard, etcc its probably because nobody would play them, I know for a fact Nd wouldn't until this year. Also if you played the brutal conference schedule they do would it make sense to go add more top ;level teams. I do know they played Knox Webb , Columbia, Murfreesboro Oakland in their state championship caliber years, not sure about who else. Hopefully last night was an eye opener for you and you regret talking about all the kids you said didn't deserve to make the all star teams and all that. To be honest other than a couple of players I think this years Baylors team is one of the weaker ones they have had in a long time, couple that with several of their starters being out last night and them calling off the dogs when it was 42-7 and ya'll got out of their very lucky. Might try to be a little more realistic and humble in the future.

I agreee with this post 100 percent. Coach Massey is a class act and I honestly thought he called off the dogs a little early. Mid 3rd quarter is a little early to me. But he's trying to get his team healthy so I understand. It could have gotten really ugly if allowed. Baylor does have some top notch athletes but overall more holes than a typical Baylor teams has. I have said it once and I will say it again. No one in Chattanooga fields better teams than Baylor and McCallie year in and year out. I have heard for several years now that ND believes they are better than Baylor. Ryan Parkers seniors year 2015 many ND fans and players said they would beat Baylor....that Baylor team was much better than what I saw last night.

When Baylor gets healthy again I think they will be very good but I think Ensworth and BA are still the teams to beat.

Congrats to Baylor. They were just too much for ND. Both teams have some good looking athletes, but Baylor's depth was too much for ND to overcome. I think ND will do fine in our division.

It's so interesting that depth keeps being mentioned when I truly believe Baylor doesn't have as much depth as usual and baylor had several players out and injured. Not to mention Baylor was the team cramping. Like five players went down within three plays.

Depth would be if the game was close until the fourth and Baylor wore them down. This game was over mid 3rd. I could even say with the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half.  I don't think depth was the reason. Baylor was just better. Just my take from watching the game.

ND looks the part though. I thought it was gonna be a game when they scored early.

I don't think depth was the ultimate reason, but it definitely played a part with how hot it was out there on the the field. I agree that this Baylor team is not like recent years, but being able to rotate bodies early did help. ND was definitely feeling the heat in the 2nd quarter. Baylor looked fresh. I guess you could say Baylor was better conditioned, but I find that hard to believe.

Preacher.....not hardly! Just proud of our school, what it represents, and our kids, and how hard they played last night, as I'm sure yours did. No disrespect delivered (I don't believe....ever) or intended to your program Booger. I'm sure it is a fine one. From what most everyone seems to say on here it is.

All I've seen preseason all year are great, frankly hilarious posts from you, and some hype that may be a tad overstated, as all of our biased posts tend to be....some more than others. And, now, after one game against what looks to be a pretty darn established DII-AAA program, you surprised this "Booger-reader" with the defensive post-game analysis.

I'm sure ND will be favored by "your prognostication" by 3 TDs, probably because y'all don't know much about our program with this new staff and key contributors nobody seems to recognize. It doesn't matter, because I really wasn't referring to you anyway. But, I bet there's a program in W Knox that might have raised an eyebrow or two last night. That's going to be a good one in October! (No Sparty.....I'm not talking about y'all either! We've got to earn your respect first.)

So, I apologize if I ruffled your kilt Booger. We very much look forward to the Irish train coming to town in October....not because we predict victory or anything, just because we appreciate playing and getting to know established, quality programs from around the state.

As I stated earlier....here's hoping for a good season for all, especially in the health department. The kids are what really matters anyway.....not all of us old farts with nothing better to do than poke each other on here.

    • I've always been a football fan first and then if you have a band that's awesome. No question that DB has one of the best bands in the country and the whole region should attend at least one DB game just to see their band. I don't know if Nick Saban could come to Kingsport and build a football program that could match the Dobyns Bennett band's success. That said,as mentioned before, a couple of things would have to change in order for the Tribe to just win a state championship on the field.Besides a program that starts from the peewee teams and goes all the way to J Fred with all coaches and weight training { in time }on the same page. Sometimes it also takes a little luck like the 1998 Vols .There are a lot of great athletes at a lot of big schools around the state and just because you want something doesn't mean your going to build a program like Alcoa has. Yes,start at the bottom and have guys that are quality coaches teaching at every level is 100% the first step. Parents can make it a lot easier by getting their young athletes into an early start with conditioning and weights as well when they are old enough to lift.If your son is a man in the weight room before he gets to DB , then it won't take a "Dobbs" coach to make him competitive against other schools athletes when it comes to strength.
    • Dyersburg scrimmaged South Gibson last week
    • A complete cultural change happened at Greeneville and the administration and community opened up their checkbooks.  What a lot of people don't know is Ballard was Zeller's OC for many years and stopped coaching for two years because Zeller and Ballard didn't see eye to eye on some things.  Zeller lead Greeneville to it's first ever Semi Final appearance in 2000 and lost 28-12 at Maryville and had them in the Quarter Finals in 2002 and 2003.  Z was a great coach but lost some control when it came to making workouts mandatory. (He learned from that Mistake and it was at LC when i coached with him.).  Z was let go going into my Senior Year and was replaced by Steve McCurry who was the one that turned the program around.  Steve had won a 4a state championship at AC Reynolds in Asheville and made the administration completely redo the weight room with new equipment, had a football period at the end of the school day to lift, started devil camp, and brought in coaches like Danny Bentley (Still the OL coach), Ballard as the OC, Cody Baugh (QB coach and still there), and even Spradlen who is Greeneville's head coach now as the DB's Coach.  McCurry only coached for two seasons at Greeneville and took a team that had a losing record the year before and finished my Senior Year making it to the Quarters and having a 10-3 record and then followed it up with a Semi Final appearance the next year with an 11-3 record and back to back conference championships.  Loved McCurry to death but the recession hit and the story i heard was he was still buying new equipment for the team that the Principal didn't authorize and his response was "I don't answer to you and only to Niswonger and Bewley" (Two huge donors).  That was it for him and they Promoted Ballard shortly after that.   Greeneville had always been relevant ever since the the late 70's under Coach Fred Sorrell's.  Since Sorrell's took over in 1977 Greeneville overall winning percentage is over 76%.  The biggest reason people might not have thought Greeneville was "Good" until Ballard was Greeneville always played up Classification wise and could never get over the hump. (When there were 3 classifications we played 3a, when it went to 5 we played 4a).  Greeneville is the largest its ever been with 953 students and where playing teams 2 or 3 times there size back in the day (I had a little over 800 kids in the school when i graduated in 2008).  Other teams always would know they would be sore after a game but depth took over and never won a Championship until Greeneville played in the classification the TSSAA actually assigned them. You had names like Dustin Moore (1993 Mr Football for 3a and who Phillip Fulmer said was one of the greatest athletes he ever recruited), James "Mud Turtle" Mayes, Brigham Lyons, Byron Gillespie, Frankie Debusk (National Champion Qb at Furman with GQ), Jasmine Lowery, Cody Baugh, The Greenway Brothers, Joe Watson (Furman), etc.  Now the cultural is from the Pee Wee league up and you grow up as a young kid wanting to wear the Greene and White.  Here is a really good link when it comes to anything Greeneville Football related. https://greenevillefootball.com/   I also don't coach anymore.  Z told me i was to smart with how the school systems are ran these days and ended up going into real estate in Knoxville which has been a great decision for my life.
    • Yes, they will. I'm wondering what kinds of strides Sale Creek will make heading into the second season under Coach Fitz.
    • No yellow stripes on the rug last night. Biggest crowd I’ve seen at 825 since the alco debacle.
